Yes, I take it personally when you say you won't vote, or vote for the Dem. Why? Because among other things, the fascists tried to commit a Black GENOCIDE during the pandemic. Your actions or inaction will give them the power to do it again in some other way. My survival depends on them NOT gaining power. So does yours.

Exactly. I have less than zero patience for the "both sides suck" lefty, Burnie bro, types. Don't care if you think both sides suck, I'd probably agree. But if you sit in your coffee house and denigrate dems and talk about not voting, you're not a revolutionary, your a privileged enabler. Vote for the person who doesn't have the luxury of not caring. Vote for the person who's life is put in danger by the fascists.

One more comment about the border issue in Texas.

Heading into the 2018 midterms, Trump tried to do the same thing: Create a border crisis and campaign on the (invented) issue that scary brown people were invading.

It didn't work in 2018 (the Republicans lost) and I am sure it won't work again.

The idea that it work will comes from being inside an information ecosystem (or bubble): They can use it to rile their base, so they think it will rile everyone.

Every time Israel responds to a minor rocket attack by destroying a bunch of homes and rushing in and doing all sorts of stuff that inevitably seems to cause deaths of Palestinians (who knows what percentage were actual combatants) at a ratio of like 5:1 it was an outrage. I have nothing but contempt for people ruining around and doing atrocities.

Ode to our new washer and dryer.
I know it seems silly to get excited about new appliances, but that is the direction my life is going.
My daughter pestered me for more than a year to replace our 25 year old Maytags. I kept saying, but they still work. She kept saying they still run, but they don't work very well.
Finally, she said they would buy us a new set as a gift. I was hesitant but caved. I didn't let them pay, but she made all of the arrangements.
She was so right. I am washing everything with enthusiasm. Instead of sounding like a semi backing up, the dryer sings to me when the load is dry. This is a happy thing.
I still had the manuals for the top of the line Maytags with the receipts attached. They cost just as much way back when as our new ones now.
I need to be less stubborn.

They imagine they know God. They have no idea of the true vastness of space. Gravity waves that hit the earth some years ago had been traveling for some 2.5 billion years, at the speed of light, 671 million miles an hour. But yet the god that created all that is very concerned about the type of clothing you wear. They also demand you worship them.

I've had a lot of harsh words for people who have justified Hamas' actions. That said, you can't blockade a whole city. That's not OK, it's an outrage. It's going to inevitably cause deaths of children and non combatants. It's also really stupid policy.

Someone I know has a kid that has had some rather sharp words about the Middle East conflict. Totally anti Israeli. Another friend of mine asked if I was pissed about that I said "No" primarily because she is a nurse who has traveled to work in refuge camps around the world. Her mental health has suffered for it too. So no, I'm not going to jump in and start telling her what she should think. If you put in the work, you're entitled to a lot of latitude.

A long time ago (before everyone had cell phones) The Washington State Ferries installed a cellular pay phone on some boats. It was out of order 99% of the time.
They finally got rid of the phone , and in the cubby where it was someone ran a string in through the hole where the wire was and attached a cup to the other end. I feel like this is one of the greatest things ever

I was driving back from the east coast to Washington. I stopped in Yakima at the farmers market. It was height of peach Season. So I bought like 20 pounds of peaches, Got a towel out as a bib, then proceeded to eat peaches all the way back to the Puget sound. I was hurting the next day, but still, worth it.
