@MartinGuay interesting cons. I just got the Anker Nano power bank for travelling. It's USB C and 5000A. Glad I didn't make a mistake with my choice. 3000 is a bit small although it would be great for weight.

At least 3 good things ...

  1. Having learned that I suck at knowing when I need a break and taking one before I burn out again.
  2. Forecast of 9 to 18 inches of snow here at home. (We need the water.)
  3. A generous neighbor with a truck who will happily drive me to the airport bus stop in a snow storm.
  4. The resources to get far away.
  5. The Northern Lights, whether or not I get to see them this weekend.
  6. Books to read on the plane.

Now, let's hope the plane can take off. See you on Friday, .

"The thesis exaggerates the break between capitalism and the alleged techno-feudal successor... and illegitimately downplays the role rent extraction has always played in capitalism. In fact, there is a great deal of commonality between leftist critiques of surplus extraction under classic industrial capitalism, and the ways in which digital platforms extract economic rents today."

@Scienceisnotopinions I am not sure health care workers are aware of the risks. Otherwise, they would all be fully vaccinated and masked at least at work.

cass_m,
@cass_m@mstdn.ca avatar

@Scienceisnotopinions I don't think COVID levels are going to go down to the summer of 2021 for at least 5 years, so this is something we're going to have to live with. Masking, nasal/throat protective sprays, air quality.

Younger people (under 40) in NA are totally unaware of what life was like with rampant childhood disease. They're about to find out. It will be worse than when I was a kid because both parents need to work to fund a household.

cass_m,

@Scienceisnotopinions and just like the flu was not widely connected with Parkinson's, the upcoming wave of cardiac arrests and strokes won't be connected with COVID in the mind of the public.

Growing up, enough people died of heart attacks in their 40s everyone knew someone affected. By the time I hit mid forties, that was no longer the case. That's going to be something common again only now families will have young children instead of teens.

This is why, once again, I’ll be voting for the NDP next election: now contraceptives and diabetes medications are covered under a national pharmacare plan. This tangibly improves people’s lives.

You see, politics shouldn’t be about keeping the Conservatives out. It should be about making a better future.

@CanadianCrone @robsonfletcher it's tragic because the entire world is intent on sweeping COVID under the rug. People accept multiple infections - Long COVID is ignored as a contributing factor to many changes from more vehicle accidents due to brain fog to vascular disease. Vaccines are freely available to all ages in Canada - unlike many places that have age restrictions - and administered by pharmacists anywhere in AB.
