Tech bros love to boast about moving fast and breaking things, so it comes as some relief to find an instance where they've moved at a more stately 17 knots and yet still utterly fucked it.

In this case the "it" being carpool vehicles. Programmed to treat movement without the engine being switched on as either theft or witchcraft, they instantly bricked themselves in response.

What happened when these vehicles travelled by ferry was perhaps predictable...

In the Dorsey interview, our hero goes on about whether Australia has the right to ban content it doesn't like.
Australia is a nice vanilla choice as the censorship "bad guy", but you don't need to swap "Russia" or "China" in for "Australia" to see why it's problematic.
Let's imagine the world before the internet.

Town A is a peaceful, largely pleasant and prosperous place.
It's neighbour, Town B, wants to meddle in Town A's affairs. So it hires dozens of planes to drop leaflets on Town A. Endlessly.
Not one single Town A citizen has to be swayed by the message for the campaign to bear fruit.
Town A is now knee-deep in leaflets. The litter is blowing around everywhere, causing accidents when they land on car windscreens, causing plants to die for lack of sunlight, generally making Town A's inhabitants unhappy. (Besides anything else, their taxes are being used for the ill-equipped clean-up efforts.)
The townsfolk become angry, and many leave. Those that remain are constantly stressed.

This is Jack Dorsey's "freedom".
Fuck him. I told you he was the real cause of Twitter's problems.

I made a clock for the garage. Clock face is epoxy, tics are letter-sealing wax. I suspect the latter will fall out in winter, but I will deal with that then, unless I have made a new clock for the garage and moved this one elsewhere.

Many of you asked me about rings. I avoided bc they're tricky for me to make beaded and are size sensitive, I like everything on my shop fitting all sizes of humans. But I had an idea, what if I added stunning adjustable rings to my shop? They could be added to handmade sets or be offered individually, and fit all sizes of humans and have options for all genders as it is my mission for my shop to fit everyone who likes unique works.

I've been poring through the Trump immunity hearing at the Supreme Court and Trump's lawyer is very good but a liar.

He uses one quote from Benjamin Franklin repeatedly and, of course, Franklin was saying the exact opposite of what Trump is arguing.

Sometimes I have a hard time believing what I see, when I follow Trump on social media…

But I promise you, this is a real screenshot of what Trump has shared yesterday: A picture of God protecting him, containing a prayer asking God to strike down all enemies who [actual quote:] “what to harm him”.

After an entire week exposing Trump's crimes and extramarital affairs, he is sharing God memes — no political agenda, no vision for America.

This is not a party — it is a cult.

Tonight on my usual Monday evening national network tech segment, I'll be briefly discussing the insane bipartisan "ban" of TikTok (good chance that would be knocked down in the courts) and efforts to ban drone maker DJI, which make no sense given the lack of evidence of wrongdoing by China in these regards, the vast use of DJI drones for public safety, agriculture, and other critical applications, the enormous amount of other Chinese-made equipment in use, and the known enemies to privacy and personal data -- like Facebook! -- that are U.S. home grown. Why are politicians in both parties banging this drum? Follow the money!
