Since irises are showing their beautiful faces now, here are two of my fave pics from a (genuinely) medieval garden at the Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud, Loire Valley, France. 1. Homemade won ton soup last night but made with P.F. Chang dumplings, which I guess makes it dumpling soup. TGTBTASE (Too Good To Be True And So Easy)!
2. I’m a big fan of Aussie film/tv and of actor Simon Baker - found two newish movies of his: “Limbo,” which was EXCELLENT, and “Blaze” which I saved to watch today. Yay. 🍿🍿

Saturday, May 11 🌺

1. Saw a bit of the aurora late last night and discovered that the scent of jasmine perfumes the whole back garden.
2. Got the dining room cleared for tomorrow’s guests. (Not as easy as it sounds - it’s practically an Amazon annex.)
3. Making lime & thyme potato salad today, using my very own key limes. Sooo yum!
4. Bonus: More photos from vagabond son & DIL at Bryce Canyon NP, where it snowed a little on them yesterday (above 9100 feet).

Thursday, May 30

1. Familiar, comforting sounds all morning from the landscaping project next door (we remodeled everything in our first home). I think today is redwood deck day.
2. Also the day of tiny flying things - bumblebee, hummingbird, dragonfly, butterfly - in my garden. (Oleanders at their peak bloom, below.)
3. Clean house, clean sheets, & I still don’t have to cook, thank you taco soup. Another blissful Thursday.
   Bonus: Trump GUILTY x 34.

Tuesday, May 14🌺

1. Still exhausted from the last dinner I’ll ever host, but everything is cleaned up, including the dirty dishes I put away neatly in the cupboards. 🤬 (I thought I ran the dishwasher; it must have been a Vicodin dream.)
2. Granddaughter took the family’s first dip into NC son’s new pool, in the rain.
3. Vagabond son & DIL hiked 4 miles into Bryce Canyon at 8000’ elevation. Got some great photos & survived. Also survived the motorcycle ride to the national park.

1. Long phone conversation with youngest granddaughter who is graduating high school on Thursday in NC. Happily, there will be a live stream so absent grandmas can watch.
2. Met a lovely woman who runs the local cat rescue service -but- the 🐱🐱🐱seem to have disappeared. (Maybe it was the all-day hammering next door yesterday!)
3. High winds bent my patio umbrella, but now it actually looks jaunty & Great Gatsby-ish.

1. Long phone call from NC son who is hosting seven houseguests & a grad party for 60 high school seniors this week. He & DIL are fabulous chefs & hosts…I wish teleportation was possible.
2. Sunday afternoon nap after a lazy morning outside.
3. Making Asian dumpling soup again. So easy, so yum.
