The Blue Mountains area near experienced a magnitude-3.6 earthquake recently, which occurred 9 kilometers beneath the surface in the Blue Mountains National Park near Warragamba. This seismic

event was reported by more than 2,000 people who felt the tremors. Fortunately, there was no tsunami threat associated with this earthquake 1.

Now, let’s delve into the geological context. While it’s true that earthquakes are often linked to tectonic plate boundaries, the Blue Mountains region in Australia is not typically associated with active plate boundaries. Here’s why:

Tectonic Plate Boundaries:

Earth’s lithosphere (the rigid outer layer) is divided into several large tectonic

Australia’s seismic activity occurs along its margins, particularly where the Australian Plate interacts with other plates.

Why the Blue Mountains Experienced an Earthquake:

Despite being away from plate boundaries, Australia still experiences occasional seismic events.

These intraplate earthquakes are caused by residual stress within the lithosphere.

Over geological time, stresses build up due to the movement of the Australian Plate.

Eventually, this stress is released as earthquakes,

A percentage-based fee makes a lot of sense, though. Any serious dev can tell you that senfing a "5" is way cheaper than moving "50".

This is why sending an email is more expensive if it's longer...

Apple announced this week a host of changes to comply with the EU’s Digital Markets Act, including a “core technology fee” that requires developers to pay €0.50 for each first annual install per year over a 1 million threshold. Spotify isn’t thrilled and calls the plan “extortion,” among other things. Tech Crunch has more: https://flip.it/vrP8ES

I am wondering if simply charging Apple users a very visible Apple tax (e.g 30% more expensive Spotify subscriptions with a labelled "Apple store surcharge") would raise awareness for Apple users?

In the end, it's up to the customers to decide...

Some hardware companies already have two versions of the same devices, with the one with licensed Apple technology more expensive...
