Saskatchewan oilpatch leakier than the government admits.

“That's significantly higher than almost any other field in Canada or the U.S., and is well above proposed guidelines in the U.S. and Europe.”

Endometriosis: It’s time to change the pattern of pain, stigma and barriers to diagnosis and treatment.

“Patients described being dismissed, that their pain was “just muscle pain,” “all women go through this,” and “this is the way cycles are for women,” and to live with it.”

“…endometriosis patients need more research, more options and more attention to be paid to the disease.”

Melatonin commonly taken by kids not a magic bullet, pediatricians say.
Parents should be cautious: “…parents often reported giving melatonin for more than 12 months, but research on its long-term safety in kids and teens is lacking.”

In fact such use is considered off label.

Canadian owned Panama mine shutdown.

Good. An environmental mess turning into a disaster. The Tar sands in Alberta should be next on the radar. Canadians would be utterly shocked if they saw those tar sands and tailing ponds up close. Out of sight out of mind I guess.

Canadas first ever methane gas census.

“Johnson and his team discovered that the actual quantity of methane produced by Canada’s oil and gas sector in the provinces of British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Alberta is consistently far higher than what was previously reported. Even more importantly, the sources of these emissions are often different from what is currently assumed”

A good back and forth discussion of the topic. Having taught anatomy (Human and Veterinary), I believe virtual and real cadaver teaching supplement one another. The cadaver work is important though for many reasons described in this article.

We need to talk about the future of the compact disc. How much longer will it exist?

Pity. I have a sizeable classical CD collection so I guess I will just use them until they rot. My vinyl collection is also still in use.

For decades, mothers have borne the brunt of scrutiny for alcohol use during pregnancy…but what about Dads drinking?

“studies are the first to demonstrate that male drinking before pregnancy is a plausible yet completely unexamined factor in the development of alcohol-related craniofacial abnormalities and growth deficiencies.”

Trolling and doxxing: Graduate students sharing their research online speak out about hate

“This research suggests faculty supervisors and university staff responsible for students’ development and well-being are often ill-prepared to support students through online harassment experiences. This means graduate students are left frightened, discouraged and with nowhere to turn for help.”

Right to repair legislation is really important for our future. Companies be damned if you don’t get this through your heads.
