Isn't it interesting that every killing by every cop is just a single bad apple that should never be thought to spoil the bunch, while every protest by and on behalf of marginalized people must be flawlessly perfect, or all participants deserve the brutality the police exist to deliver to them?

A story about my mom and Trump.

My mom was an executive assistant for two Jewish brothers who ran a construction company in the '80s. They were in competition with Trump on some real estate deal and lost out to him. For some reason they had to make a pilgrimage to Trump Tower to go on bended knee. When one of the brothers introduced mom, Trump his usual graceful manner said, “Which one of these two Jews did you have fuck to get your job?”.

Maybe his handlers who schedule these things should be aware of the fact that he's in a criminal trial that he HAS to be in if the judge has a hearing. It's not an option to not attend.

It insane to me how often women are not given pain management for gynecological procedures, because many many years ago a male doctor who's never had a vagina, cervix, or uterus decided that there weren't enough nerve endings up there to hurt significantly. I think it's time to put this fallacy to bed. It most definitely does hurt, and people who have literally no experience with female equipment don't get to decide this for me. Trust me docs, you don't want to taste your own medicine on this.

Universal Basic Income won't work unless we can eliminate economic rent and rent-seekers.

Rents don't benefit anyone but the rentier. If we eliminate them, the rest of us will only improve. We can get all those deadweight losses back, too.

As with most things, there is an easy, but morally problematic, way to do it, and a very difficult, morally superior, and likely ineffective way to do it, because they already operate in the morally problematic zone at all times, and are okay with murders.

Why is it that the people who brag about being "self-made" aren't?

If you turned out successful odds are you had help, a lot of it, and a good amount of luck on top of that. Imagine being so self absorbed that you don't give credit where credit is due.

@RickiTarr A lot of people are brainwashed into thinking that giving other people credit for something they might have helped with is a shameful thing. Pride does that. Ego too. Humility makes one give credit where credit is due. Most who don't are egotistical assholes.Elon, Trump and others..

@RickiTarr Actually another thing really embarrasses me. My inability to proofread something that I would send to the NY Times (direct comment) and I die of shame when I find a mistake.
I pride myself on my writing ability. Any mistakes like those just make me want to crawl into the floor and never come back.

@RickiTarr I had a horrible high school experience and was viewed as exotic because I wasn't from the state I live in, my name was French so everyone thought I was Canadian, and I got out of there a year ahead of schedule because I hated it.
