Recently I read: "Focus on what you can control. You can't control how people will see you, judge you or treat you. What you can control is your own excellence."
Let go what you can't control and set yourself free.
Irritated that Capture One (basically a raw image processor bundled with a better version of Lightroom) has moved to an Adobe-style subscription model. At least they still let you buy a permanent copy (and basically give you the current version for free after 5 years as a subscriber).
Having to buy an annual subscription to manage and edit my own work reminds me how vulnerable we are to the business-model-du-jour of proprietary platforms we rely on.
I forgot how needlessly smug people are over in the walled garden, holy shit.
Over here, if you're that insufferable, people beat ya down real fast. It happens to me weekly, and I'd like to think, for me at least, it smooths down those rough edges.
I used to have balls. Thatβs fucking weird dude. I feel like I can barely even remember that. Itβs like it was just a bizarre dream. Transition is such a wild ride sometimes
At the #CNN town hall, Trump called Kaitlan Collins a #NastyPerson for rudely insisting that he answer a question.
But have we ever seen HIM called that to his face? I mean that's his entire persona. It's what his supporters love about him, what distinguished him from the rest of the GOP. He was willing to be a jerk. Break decorum. And now that's come to define the way a large portion of the public discusses politics. I just want a qualified comic to bring the receipts. Bullies hate that.
@wjmaggos I'm of two minds. One, he's been the most berated President ever. Every nuance of every step was spun against him. Don't pretend he's never been called nasty names to his face. That's bullshit.
But I do agree that the way the President and other elected officials conduct themselves has taken a decidedly Idiocracy nosedive.
I would like that to change, but I fear the toothpaste is out of the tube.
@wjmaggos I don't know that kicking the "who started it" can is useful.
A lot of criticism against Trump is valid, and the Press is as corrupt as he says they are.
I think finger-pointing and looking for someone to blame is less productive than returning to discussing ideas honestly and trying to come together and raise all boats in America.
Handouts and hating each other is the new bread & circuses
@wjmaggos Doing the right thing is what one should do, but not in order to receive something in return. That is disingenuous and violates what's "right".
"Othering" is best achieved when there's not honest discourse and people are siloed.
Punching people you don't like is by definition the downward spiral. Self-defense is different.
Punching ideas is good and correct. One's claims should be able to survive any onslaught.
Well, #Twitter has a new CEO, and since it's a woman and the company is failing, everyone is bringing up the #glasscliff theory as a forward excuse.
Sadly, there's nothing, a woman can do to prevent falling victim to this patriarchic trap, like, let's say, turning down the job offer. So not wishing Twitter the best of luck henceforth is now a case of gender discrimination. Thank you #feminism. π€¦ββοΈ
@raccoon ... that if Musk didn't hire a woman, your demented ilk would still call him a woman-hater? You'll spin it whatever way you can 'cause gosh, you just don't like him and have to be right.
Don't see how this is so hard to figure out, except it's questioning your religion.
#fediverse we are going to have waves of #mainstreaming people coming into "our" #openweb counter currents, bringing a lot of non-native, unthinking blinded mess with them, they will push this mess over us as common sense then they will retreat back to #mainstreming and point at us covered in mess... "look these guys are covered in mess we can't work with them...
@witchescauldron This is equally incomprehensible. Also hashtags as they're known was not a part of the original WWW, so I don't understand that claim.
Let's share our days with each other using the hashtag #today. What are you up to today? Are you working on a new project? Are you spending time with loved ones? Are you exploring a new place? No matter what you're doing, let's connect and share our experiences.
