The point of solar panels is not to ensure "solar profitability," but to make for a greener, better world. Its profitability is only justified insofar as it moves us towards that goal. If we want to switch to renewables, then sometimes we're going to have surplus, because of how renewables work. This is well known and discussed ad nauseam. If that makes power markets unstable, then the problem is with markets, not with there being too many solar panels.

@ManyRoads My honest opinion following the rise of the far right in European politics, is that should Russia lose the war in Ukraine and it’s people would finally put an end to the imperialist claims, we would see the bottom fall out from under many of these political organisations

32000 Palestinians dead since Oct 7th,
which makes for 5333,3 dead per month,
1333,3 dead Palestinians PER WEEK, and going on…

I wish people would stop pretending nothing has happened since Oct 7th?

And you’re right. In modern times terrorist organisations have been defeated by cutting into their support, not military action that increases it.

This and many others like you, have led me to the conclusion that blindness to the facts right in front of you is the real issue.

Go ahead, pick the facts, ignore the Nakba, ignore the surging of far right in Israeli politics.

It’s the increase of Israel that remains the problem, not the existence of it.

History seems to point to two answers:

In modern times terrorist organisations are almost never defeated by military actions, but by political solutions that offer the people a better alternative. The people know these are madmen, but the madman is the only one speaking for them so there’s no choice.

In old times brutal empires took hundreds of years to crush repeating rebellions and eradicated whole ethnic groups in the process.

@thetechtutor 1933, british promised 33% of Palestine to the zionist movement. 1948 they were given 56%. By 1967 they controlled 79%.

Yet in 1918, a mere 6% of Palestine was Jewish.

All this in about 100 years. It is not ancient, it is recent. Of course they’re going to want their homes back. Many still carry the keys to homes that were taken by force from them.

You talk of 1200 people dead. You know what that is to Palestinians right now? The number of people dying in Gaza in a week.

In a groundbreaking study from 2017, Chatard et al found social comparison to be subliminal.

In the study women were shown images of thin women or heavy women at sub-conscious threshold viewing times of less than 20 milliseconds.

Even when they consciously didn’t register seeing them and weren’t able to make the comparison, the study found feeling good or bad about their bodies still consistently affected.

Happy to say thay unlike US, even a very right-wing government like we have now, does not bow to Russia.

Russia’s direct propaganda on Finland has actually been eerily quiet since their last direct influencers were booed out in 2022 for supporting the Ukraine invasion.

Instead the threats, covert operations & confusing with several different versions of events gone up sharply.

I think I have heard more stories about how someone’s grandfather fought in WW2 with a jewish person than ever before in my life during the last 6 months.

I’ve heard abundant touching stories about how humane, vibrant & wholesome someone’s jewish friends are.

All from people, who continue to present the point that they are arguing facts about the conflict.

Unfortunately, that’s not the case. All of these people were arguing A NARRATIVE about the conflict.

One thing stays constant over the ages: Rich people who think politics is bankrupt and they should run things instead.

The thing with politics is though, at it’s root the word means doing things (for the city) together. And the root of their frustration with politics and doing away with it is that they don’t want to do things together.
