@gerrymcgovern there is a certain irony in how the copyright industry has worked two decades to criminalize what they call copyeight infringement (think of all the poor artists they said!) and now lawyers need to think up how mass infringement is somehow ok because it's done at Industrial scale.

you can not trust states to perform censorship and surveillance in good faith. Unless you ignore the many right wing state takeovers everywhere. Therefore: End to end encryption is non negotiable and more necessary the more right wing authorianianism is growing .... Which no sane government can object to unless it is already in a driving seat of the authoriarian turn itself.

Cory pinpoints in a few succinct paragraphs how robot assistance has been and can be great and helpful and turns us into powerful "centaurs" but that the way to profits lies in "reverse centaurs" where AI is the pilot and humans are tasked to correct bot productions at superhuman speed, degrading us to robots. In other words, AI driven Automation is only profitable if it enshittifes our work and life.

"that" is highly problematic and "this" and "it" and sometimes "yes" and "no" as well.

You have no idea what I am talking about? That's exactly the issue :) placeholder words often occur in short chat/text messages and while the sender thinks the reference is clear, receivers often do not. Better to be a bit more verbose and expand the reference, make it explicit. In network programming it's known that stateful messages, depending on content from earlier messages, is complicating things.

In case you don't know about what society means in practise: e.g. the Russian military now drafts people digitally and if you don't quickly get back your digital payment cards and options are cancelled. No bakery, travel, rent payment or groceries available anymore. Still feeling that digital payment is cool and modern and progress? Please think again. It's gives government unprecedented power with the flip of a digital bit .... In times of pervasive militarisation across the globe.

@paulehoffman @dabeaz how do you know forking, if successful and dragging a part of community along or finding new communities, will not evoke the same sadness about growing bureaucracy? Sad is not neccessarily angry and it's not an accusation or a call to action. Don't want to speak in the name of @dabeaz but that's how I feel this sadness about bureaucracy myself.

Even if i criticize hypocrisy of german politics and attitudes -- pretty happy with the current, surprising Anti-right wing sweeping demonstrations in hundreds of german cities -- The "correctiv" journalist research group who broke the news of thje november secretive right-wing meeting used a reporting format of theater communications: they published a playbook with acts and scenes and descriptions -- a few days later it got into a berlin theatre for real. And into all mainstream news.

Naomi Klein in her latest "doppelganger" book might be up to something. Fascist movements are doppelgangering, perverting ideas .... Socialism into national socialism, "against capitalists/billionaires" into "against the elites", German fascist Höcke speaking of "Nazi demonstrations" where currently hundreds of.thousands are marching against Nazis and in Germany .... Any idea is invertible and pervertible and thus provides no safe permanent ground. This throws us into crisis.

@NatureMC @CorinnaVahrenk1 Irgendwie ironisch dass die Rechten immer vom linken Meinungsdiktat (ja wo denn?) fabulieren, oder von der Steuerung der Mainstreammedien. Es ist eine merkwuerdige "doppelgaenger" Strategie dass urspruengliche linke Kritiken in rechte slogans gespiegelt werden. Anderes Beispiel Anti-Globalisierung: heutzutage eher ein rechtes, ehemals ein linkes projekt (Seattle 1999 etc.)

Industrial extractive capitalism is intimately tied to clocks which evolved in the 17th and 18th centuries to extract work time, to turn living hours into a commodity that can be deployed at industrial scale. Extractivism all the way down to enrich the rich. Navigating the evolving ecological and political climate crisis might best be done by relegating clocks as rather occasionally used instruments. If relegating clocks is unthinkable on a society level then so is navigating climate warming.

Just read "the tyranny of clocks" from 1944 https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/george-woodcock-the-tyranny-of-the-clock which provides a complimentary background for.my top.post. it is also.noteworthy that computing machinery runs on high frequency clocks which drive execution of instructions. Not sure there is any contemporary anarchist writing about this but I am searching still and encounter many nice essays like the one quoted above.

@wonka @larsmb I much prefer luddites with their aim for convivial living .... over Marxism and Leninism that endorse extractivism and totalitarianism and fetishize machines and "automation" and thus in fact are aligned with their official "capitalism" counterpart.

Also ich bin für die Archäologie in der .... Denn darin liegt unser jetziger gesellschaftlicher Zustand begraben. Viele Annahmen haben sich ja als falsch rausgestellt zb haben Wiking Frauen genauso gekämpft wie Männer und es gab vor 7000 Jahre grosse Städte ohne administrative/Königsklasse .... @larsmb @mandelbroetchen Lars, verstehe nicht warum die hier so scharf reagierst. Bin voll mit dem poster , dass dieses "wir" eine fragwürdige Konstruktion ist. Bin ebenfalls vier Jahre nicht krank gewesen und fünfmal geimpft und habe Family die alle Corona hatten. Bin ich besonders toll.oder immun? Natürlich nicht und ich finde im übrigen "schuld" Fragen wenig hilfreich. Eigene Nase ist nah.

Be rest assured .... No government really cares much about human rights. They incorporate interests mostly from rich/powerful people presented as caring for everybody else. Govs are really more similar to each other than they make most people believe. As a general rule of thumb: consider that whatever a government says about another government to be mostly or roughly true but never trust anything they say about themselves.

I am lost for words of what is happening in Israel and Gaza. This is what you get when extreme right factions take over. And yes, it's totally possible and legit to condemn Hamas and Israeli gov massacre actions ... This situation has grown for decades and global powers have watched and co-created the situation.
