    I don't know how to describe it but this post 2016 society has kinda broken me in a way that I can't describe. Yes, I get it, "Lol things have always been bad" blah blah blah, but this dystopian shit is something different. I think the combination of just seeing how comfortable people have become just being outright cruel and bigoted combined with the apathy and just flat out resignation of folks who may be decent, but they've just normalized all of this bullshit killed my youthful spirit.

    @BlackAzizAnansi I genuinely used to think that if people knew better they would do better but starting in about spring of 2016, when I recognized that that asshole was going to win the US presidency, my faith in humanity went hurtling off a cliff. It has been a real struggle to come to terms with how proudly awful some folks are.

    One of the problems with having so many social media platforms — I now post Examiner articles eight times (2 Twitter, 2 Mastodon, 2 Facebook, 1 Spoutible, 1 Bluesky) — is that I'm so distracted that I can't have any actual conversations or even just simple exchanges. I'll try to concentrate here for this week, see if there's any pickup.

    @RobertOwnageJunior @tburkhol It is privilege to not have to worry or even consider how lazy language impacts people who are different from you.

    If you can understand why using "gay" with a negative connotation perpetuates harm to LGBTQ+ folks, you can figure out why the same applies to applying negative connotations to language around disablity.

    If you don't have to worry about how these negative associations cause harm, that is a privilege.

    Every single person I speak with about the iOS keyboard says it’s becoming unusable – and thought they were the only one having issues. I’m talking, like, twelve professionals I’ve asked about it who have ranted about this like they are coming up for air.

    Even typing this post was incredibly annoying. Why is this happening and why is nobody covering it??

    @ryanhoulihan I am normally an android user but as punishment for too many cracked screens I temporarily accepted a free iPhone. Swipe-to-type on ios is so so so bad. It changes entire phrases after I've entered them. It learns NOTHING from my habits. It suggests the most ridiculous words. You have hit a very sensitive nerve in me!

    I'm working on improving the @pixelfed app onboarding, and want your feedback on the new sign up flow.

    Does this do a good job at conveying the choice of communities to join while providing an easy default instance to join?

    This isn't final, I'd like to get a general positive consensus on this before moving forward.

    Ok so “World Turtle Day” is next week.

    Let me tell you a story.

    In May 2009, work sent me & 2 co-workers to KSC for the STS-125 launch. We were working STS-400, the “rescue” mission, if it was needed.

    Flight controllers never got to go see launches because we always had to work launches.

    So we were being silly & driving around KSC & the launch pads because seriously, why wouldn’t you…and we passed in front of the astronaut beach house (1/?)

    Hello mstdn.ca I just moved here from HalifaxSocial.ca and I think I messed up - am I right that now that my account is redirecting I can't get back to any of my content in the other account? I thought I'd have a chance to migrate my follows, copy my filters etc. Is that all now lost to the mists of time?

    The Guardian (who are themselves working out of a pub still due to a ransomware attack in December 2022) are reporting (a major IT supplier) have a "IT incident", staff have been told to not use VPN, and they are working with pen and paper since this morning.
