That was great timing, the $15 garage sale obsolete Chromebook-reloaded-with-Debian now reloaded with Ubuntu, because one of my kids needed a machine for a college electronics project (better than sitting on a shelf here)--the software package they are using is Ubuntu specific.

@ai6yr I'm still using an Acer C720 Chromebook mfg 2013 that now runs Linux Mint, and with gLabels and QtQR one can make a perfectly fine PDF flyer.

@robertcadena @ai6yr You can replace the C720 batteries, but I bought my replacement battery on the big South American river site for cheap, and it was low quality and short life - it now barely holds a charge.. I see that you can get tested and warranted ones off iFixit for a higher price, (last time I checked) but for now I keep it plugged into the charger

I've got LMDE on two old Chrome books, and an even older HP but the peppier C-book (ha) made in 2013 is faster than the one made in 2018 (both 4GB)- I think it's mostly the eMMC on the newer one. They both have Celeron, and the older one has a slower clock speed. Goodwill auctions off old Dells, and they put Linux Mint on many of them, so that might be a good standard for the general population.

Is it possible to make matte finish visibly opaque sunglasses? Or would any matte surface on plastic or glass lead to blurring too annoying to make it worth it?

More generally could we have matte windows on a building? This one is harder due to weather, most surfaces that don't reflect collect dirt and oil.

But this latter application could be good for birds...

Let them experience someone knocking down their front door while they are at home, who then tries to force their heads into the toilet. Of course they would fight back. A neighbor comes in and says "Why don't you people negotiate? I mean, you, who've lived here all your life, could live in a closet and let this new person have the rest of the house. Then we would have peace in our time.
