I am a run-of-the-mill Android-phone-Windows-desktop-Gmail-user but now I'm in the process of transitioning from Gmail and using Duck Duck Go to research how to set up a Linux desktop.
Oh, and also now Signal-curious.
What is this place? Some kind of privacy cult LOL?
@shansterable Or other way - privacy cult chose this place because there is no surveillance here. As a paranoid I use it as only social media service :blobfoxmlem:
This is fun!
Because I have my History turned off on the #Youtube app they are refusing to show me an Algorithmically generated feed.
I'm not sure they understand how many people see this as an absolute win!! #Google
@MrLee Have seen this in browser, coupled with "start to watch anything". And I use autodeleting Firefox history. Every time I see this big cookie banner with Reject All available button (thanks, GDPR) I feel so satisfied :blobcat_amused:
"As you use your PC, Recall takes snapshots of your screen. Snapshots are taken every five seconds while content on the screen is different from the previous snapshot. "
Sitting #kingfisher - based on my mother's photos. I rather exactly "copied" its pose.
For some reason pattern on its head and wings looks like the sky for me. Not sure if it was so visible on original photos.
@nlpbot As a Slav I could confirm :D In our myths there was Weles, god of afterlife, magic and oaths who also was the god of wealth and prosperity. And in our agricultural Slavic culture symbol of prosperity was cows (the bigger the herd, the more lucky and wealthy farmer is), so cows were associated with this deity. Modern Slavic pagan groups use symbol similar to upside down letter A as symbol of Veles (I also have this symbol among my tattoos).
One time I drew Veles as a man with cow horns, sitting near lying brown bull :D
Our nearby small market town used to have 3 banks; they're all closed (taking their cash machines with them), and this week one of the two remaining cash machines was removed from the supermarket where it was located.
So, we're down to a single cash machine in an area with a radius (I'm guessing) of around 20 miles.
The cashless society doesn't represent consumer choice, its pace is being forced by financial institutions keen to charge fees on transactions!
@GezThePez@ChrisMayLA6 I am in Warsaw, Poland and last two weeks I saw few cases of small restaurants mentioning they prefer cash payments. Haven't thought it could be a part of bigger trend yet but maybe something is happening...
"So many people no longer answer calls from unrecognized numbers that it's becoming almost pointless to try to call customers when there are legitimate issues they need to resolve."
Did my taxes via government website... And now I want to scream about #smartcard support on #Linux...
Why the hell login via identity card is so much pain every damn time?!?
@MartinBe Every service there, related to taxes, voting, some weird services using their "inbox" etc. are the same. Chain of weird redirections, sometimes with as suspicious addresses as real scam sites. And I dare you to use adblockers in browser...
