I’ve had to make some very difficult decisions as an executive lately.

A team member who was a personal favorite of mine began underperforming and despite many second chances and attempts to help, kept getting worse in terms of their work until they nearly jeopardized the entire project. They also began lashing out at me and other team members in a way that was completely unacceptable.

And yet after letting them go I keep wondering if I was too harsh. If it was my fault. Ugh.

Remember to do the things that make you happy.

Yes, even now. Even when you feel like you have a million obligations to get to. Even when you feel like you haven’t earned it yet. Even when it’s “not the right time”.

It’s your life, dammit. Enjoy it. Do the things that make life worth living.

If you’re happy, you’re gonna be able to take care of others and meet your obligations better. You aren’t helping anyone by hurting yourself.

What started out as one of the best weeks of my life ended up as a complete disaster.

I made one of the worst mistakes in my entire time in business so far, cost myself and my team money, lost trust of people important to me, ended up getting into a 5 day long BPD episode with panic attacks and full delusional paranoia, hurt people I love, and now I’m afraid that tomorrow will bring even more bad news as a result. My mental health is in shambles.

I am so glad to bid this week goodbye.

Platform responsibility.

It should be a basic factor for anyone publishing #content on the internet. “Are we being responsible with the reach and audience trust that we have by publishing this content in this way?”

And yet it seems like big platforms like the #NYT haven't heard of it.

In what world is it okay for one of the world’s biggest newspapers to publish a book review with a graphic of the author’s head getting EATEN????

Finding a good team really is a success hack.

I can’t share too many details publicly yet but I’ve brought people on into leadership positions and having someone to work with like that and actually lead the company along with me has already been life-changing.

I feel so cared for and supported 🥰 The past two weeks were filled with so much joy and love and gratitude.

And I get to work with such smart freaking people too!! I feel so lucky.

See this example from #Arc Search - in what world is this an adequate summary for an 8,000+ word article that takes 43 minutes to read?

The amount of detail, specificity, narrative, and actual arguments that get lost is mind-boggling.

Everything is just… flattened to the most basic and bare-bones facts.

Every unique part of that piece, every voice, personality - stripped away.
