Question for fellow @actuallyautistic and @actuallyadhd neurodivergent folks:

How do you explain your ideas to neurotypicals?

I constantly struggle because my brain has made connections that are not obvious to others, and when I try to guide them through my thinking I confuse them with details or by skipping explanations that seem obvious to me but completely surprising to anyone else.

Frameworks, links, anything is appreciated!

The flip side to “Europeans are lazy and don’t work hard” is that we’re able to maintain a modern society with a high standard of living while still being able to spend time with our families. And why kill yourself through overwork when most of the rewards go to somebody else, anyway?

This map shows where Russia is currently attacking GPS signals in the EU.

According to this brilliantly researched article from Peter Møller, Russia has a classified weapons system called Tobol, which is jamming GPS satellites from a base in Kaliningrad.

By using photos and articles from before the war, he has managed to piece together a surprisingly clear picture of what the Russians are doing.

(In Danish but translating it is absolutely worth it.)

The blogging platform #Ghost is working on adding #ActivityPub integration. That means, among other things, being able to follow Ghost-powered blogs and comment on articles right from your Mastodon account. The website they made to explain their plans is really nice! This is what momentum looks like.

“the good life is not something that you set up as a future target for 2030, then run toward in a phased manner. The good life is something you start trying to practice in the here and now because you’re trying to bridge from existing, suboptimal, difficult circumstances and infrastructures and inequitable distributions of power… to a better world. you can’t do that slowly and then suddenly all at once. You have to do that by taking on the difficult stuff as your starting point… “

Today I am 8 years Sober!

The past 8 years have not been simple. I have had to build a new life. I have spent time in institutions and been diagnosed Schizophrenic. Importantly I was also diagnosed Autistic (that will be 8 years ago next November).

I couldn't have imagined that I would get 8 years into sobriety. I thought life was over. Now I am an author, an independent academic. A mentor, an independent advocate.

The most beautiful part of my life now is being a father, and the three children in my life have renewed my devotion to leaving the world a little better than I found it.

Thank you to all of you. Without my neurokin, my family and loved ones, I could not have achieved this

I just finally deployed something I've been working on for a few weeks now: a feed of my writing, posting, reading, and other various activity that lives on my website at https://www.mollywhite.net/feed!

I've admired the POSSE (https://indieweb.org/POSSE; "Publish [on your] Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere") model for a long time, but only finally found the time and energy to put something together that I'm actually happy with.

How did The New York Times, one of the world’s most famous and well-established publications, choose to review Geraldine DeRuiter’s ( @everywhereist) new book?

By illustrating her decapitated head on a plate, getting devoured by another woman. No, I’m not joking.

I got mad about it. I wrote about why:

Abled people find it hard to believe how many people are actually disabled, vulnerable, mentally ill, or have chronic pain and impairment that requires ongoing medication or other treatment because they think of themselves as "normal" and "the default" and assume other people are faking.

It's a pretty common story, the same as every other dominant group looking askance at the marginalized and asking why they can't just bootstrap themselves out of the problem.

Even as they make it worse.
