First, is illegal in . You cannot walk around wearing a swastika or be part of a group. You are going to be prosecuted for that.

Then, in November last year, a teenager killed four people and hurt twelve more in a school-shooting. Earlier in April, a man invaded a kindergarten and killed four children.

After the second episode, on April 14, the government released an ordinance for social networks due to school violence.

The April 14 ordinance included legal obligations for social networks, including:

  • removal of violence-supportive content;
  • sharing with the police data that identifies the user or location of posting of violence-supportive content, particularly against schools.

On April 10, the federal police requested from all of its data on a group. The teenager responsible for the November 2022 attack was found to be a member of that group, and its owner was already known to be responsible for sharing violence-supportive content.

On April 19 (nine days later!), replied providing only partial information on the owner of that group, but nothing on the other participants. By then, the April 14 government ordinance was already in force.

On April 20, the federal justice determined that should provide all the information in 24 hours or be suspended countrywide.

On April 21, informed it was no longer possible to share information on the group because it has been deleted. But the federal police is aware that the group was still active on April 20 at least until 5:42PM.

On April 26, the federal justice determined that all the major mobile carriers, , and should block countrywide.

I have just noticed that both @ProtonCalendar and @ProtonDrive accounts have a banner redirecting users to their respective accounts. What a shame for users!
But since both @protonmail and @protonvpn accounts are still active around here, this decision should be, and could be easily, reconsidered.

I don't think people are realising the danger the Fediverse is in.

The only thing stopping corporations and VCs taking over this place is that the Fediverse is spread out on many different servers, which makes it very difficult to purchase.

If most of the Fediverse ends up on mastodon.social, which is now a strong possibility, there will be nothing to stop most of it being sold to Musk or Zuckerberg or whoever.

The bigger mastodon.social becomes, the more likely a buyout is to happen.
