Polyester doesn't breathe and sheds microplastics when manufactured, worn and washed!
Cotton farming takes immense amounts of water and pesticides!
Viscose can be made from recycled fibres & waste cellulose, but it's a fairly toxic process!
Linen is more ecological to grow but expensive!

"But what do I wear then, Sini?"
The garments you already own, until they fall apart or someone else needs them!

Just because I was thinking about it - you do know every single piece of clothing you wear was made by human hands, right?
Currently there exists only a handful of garment manufacture processes that can be done by robots, and very few that it's not cheaper to have some underprivileged human do it instead.

Every single stitch that puts together one fabric piece to another, though? Put there by a human with human hands, every time. We should pay them!

Karvinen does this thing where he gets up on his little behind and puts his paws in the air when he is making considerate demands. If you put your hands close enough, he'll grasp them so he can stay sitting and firmly insist. He won't let go unless you take the hands away, and thus you can jiggle the entire cat.

Similar, but a lesser quality photo, from a different day. He is sitting lower down, his front paws suspended in air and placed upon Sini's hand. He is staring directly at Sini again, who is slightly left from where the camera lens was.

A gentle and soothing clip of a ginger tabby cat peacefully resting on his back with his paws relaxedly curled up to his chest, eyes mostly closed. A disembodied human hand, Sini's, gently pets first one and then the other. The cat doesn't mind and even squints his eyes more closed. The clip has been shot horizontally and based on context clues, in bed. The bed linens and things are a raspberry pink and make for a lovely colour scheme with the cat.
Another of the same, but this time the hand gently pets one front paw and then gracefully and fluidly pushes up below the paw. The cat curls his toes just enough to gently grasp one finger. The motions together are pleasantly calm and in unison, as if this is a thing that happens all the time. The silver rings of Sini's hand glint nicely from within her palm. The cat is a deep and rich honey and copper hue.

Many of you already know Karvinen, but let me tell you about Pörri. Pörri is very large and very soft and has unfathomable amounts of silky hair that gets absolutely everywhere. He has no idea why he can't fit on my lap at the same time as Karvinen, or that he's the weight of two small cats. Whenever he climbs onto my lap it's only a matter of time before he flips around, like this. I love him.

Art commission! I'd like to have a faux-baroque or earlier style portrait of a cat. You know, looks like an old oil painting at a glance, look at it a bit longer and it's a dignified cat instead of a human.

I'd be willing to pay a sum of money for the completion of such, and then be happy for you to slap it on any of the art printing websites for your own use, for other people to buy as well. I just want a poster to put in a frame!

When something goes wrong, we have multiple colloquial ways of expressing it. Going more for the vibes than the direct translation, you have:
"Nyt meni päin honkia" - This took a turn and went straight into the trees
"Nyt meni pieleen" - You have hit the side instead of the middle where you were aiming for
"Nyt meni vituiksi" - Now you fully fucked it up
"Nyt meni höpöksi" - Poppycocked it up, love

Did you already know every single garment you wear (with the possible exceptions of socks and some machine knit tops) was made by human hands, by a human? Somebody sat in what was likely a grim or bland factory and made that thing. Unless you made that thing yourself!
In which case you also know what a fucking hassle it is to hem a button up shirt nicely when the button placket is even a little bit thick, fuck.
Pay humans more to sew!

Today, in #SewingWithCats, I'd been drafting a pattern for a basic button up shirt to make from repurposed fabric, concentrating for hours...
When I suddenly feel something first against my back and then my shoulder, then neck

After the initial "oh shit I thought I was alone here" I did remember that I have cats, and specifically, this cat 😂​

A very brief clip of Sini, wearing a black cardigan and a red skirt, sort of leaning over a desk with assorted pieces of white patterning paper and a measuring tape. It starts out a bit shaky and is obviously shot by holding one arm out versus a tripod, but that seems to be because she has an orange tabby cat standing on a mystery platform directly behind her, his front paws braced on her shoulder. He is energetically giving her an affectionate headbutt, which she reciprocates with a smile and closed eyes, and then he starts licking her neck. She is sans makeup and looks pretty relaxed, he is a cat.

Anecdote about some bad planning and nobody checking with a water engineer restoring some habitat:

Close by to me they built a superfluous four lane road, with all requisite earthworks etc. They didn't take into account how the watershed and nearby water reservoir would react and unintentionally flooded a huge amount of desolate land. Land that had been swamp, but had been dried to make room for suburban development decades ago.
It rather quickly went from slightly soggy to perpetually wet and lush with every snowmelt, and now it's wetlands again!

Developers: we would like profit and more cars here, please
Water: you get a SWAMP

It brings me so much joy. I would assume it brings joy to all the native flora and fauna now living there. I hope it brings you joy, also

Important news about a triplecat occurrence in the region!

The boys clumped up on my lap again. Even one of them is quite hefty, all three at once is a lot of cat.

He has his eyes closed and his posture is relaxed, like he has absolutely no plans of shifting. His belly flops down adorably onto the scoop of her lower back. Sini is wearing a black shirt and cardigan, a tan headscarf with blue flowers, and is apparently one of those people who mostly look at their hands while they type. There's a very large lamp in the frame, as well as two sewing machines in the background.

"I'll just put a podcast on and do a bit of sewing" is what I thought hours ago. It got slightly out of hand! 😂​ Mostly I was covering small holes with leaves and connecting them.

This is the prototype button down shirt I made from an old pillowcase and bit of old sheet, so I thought I'd do a wearable sampler to try out different things. No great loss if I didn't like it, etc.

Close up photo of one of the very small holes being covered with embroidery. There is a bunch of basting thread holding the top fabric and the support layer underneath in the same place. The leaves are made with the blanket stitch.
A slightly farther away photo of some of the nicer leaves and twisting stems. Every leaf is slightly wonky in a slightly different way, but overall the effect is quite cute. There are three quite nice leaves and six ranging from mediocre to kind of terrible. Sini's fingers are in the frame, her oval natural nails continue being a bit too long to be fully practical.

If anyone would like to make a terrible game, I have a pitch for you.

The gameplay is you trying to unpack a household appliance and three badly animated cats try to get into the box, the plastic and the power cord, you only have two hands and when your hands are full, you can only shout a cat's name out - which increases your stress score every time. Each of the cats has a different cool down timer before another attempt but what is important that the orange one's timer is very very short. 😐​
