Bluefin https://projectbluefin.io/ paired with steam's family sharing makes a super easy setup for my kids to play some older PC games like Freddi Fish on an unused laptop.
@mike We bring our kids every single time we go since they were born. Definitely good days and definitely bad days. But we want them to be involved with the gathering and choosing process.
For those of y'all who have more than one computer / laptop at home and don't need them for work... do you always install the same OS stack on them or try to keep it diverse to experiment / explore each OS independently?
@kzimmermann This year I've begun breaking away from the singular OS for everything model that I've been doing with Fedora for years. Using more device specialized operating systems is easier than forcing things to fit properly all the time.
@thelinuxcast I do the same thing but I grab bundles from humble bundle and fanatical. Then my library grows dramatically and I forget what I even have haha.
@jhx Most enjoyable for me for fun stuff (scripting, quick doodles, even larger projects) is Apache Groovy. Java when needed. I also tinker with a handful of other stuff too like C++ and Arduino.
@jhx I find it quite enjoyable. The option to write quickly and just play with code while also providing the tools to get more refined and serious when necessary are very enticing. Also being able to simply pull in java dependencies for interoperability is great too :)
@fedora Really wish I could've been there :) it has been way too long since a trip to Ireland and I've never been to a Fedora event! 😱 Hope everyone has a great time.
@kev I've been moving towards not using a phone at all. I still have my Librem5 and Pinephone though for when I'm out and expect I'll need them. But typically I don't often bring a phone when I'm out either. It was a huge relief ditching that paradigm. I understand not everyone can make that work.
🐧 I wrote a new blog entry listing all the changes I made to turn the Lenovo Yoga 370 into my mobile GNU/Linux digital painting device. It's long because it contains detailed instructions for beginners. I hope it is helpful.
