I'm off this week, so I was going to put my laptop at my desk and do some writing, Godot stuff, etc.
I can't get my Logitech "MX Keys Mini for Mac" (it's just Bluetooth) to work; it's connected, but typing doesn't get through, and the keyboard goes to sleep.
Also, the big screen seems to shut off frequently; not sure if it's aggressively going into sleep mode or if the connection is somehow funky.
Luckily I've got a couple of other USB-C dongles; the wee Tripp-Lite one I've got is working great, although I did have to plug in the big monitor via HDMI instead of DisplayPort.
I normally use a Pluggable thunderbolt dock with my work machine; I guess it's not USB-C enough to work properly with a non-thunderbolt machine (AMD based)?
Check out the only USB keyboard I have in the house.
[Question] If you were buying a well-supported, software-developer #Linux laptop for work, paid for by the company, either in the UK or the USA, what would you buy?
@popey I'm considering getting a Slimbook, but I don't have any experience with them. They look nice though. Most of the other options I've checked were US only, which rules them out for me.
@popey Couldn’t you just install Ubuntu afterwards (with Snap)? I know that it’s an extra step and all but it seems a little strange (imo) to not buy from a hardware manufacturer because they don’t ship x with their hardware.
I ask this out of curiosity and wanting to learn more about Linux and its community.
@itsfoss Apparently brada doesn't have enough b_lls to run his propiretary games/packages on Gnu+Linux. :sadness:
Should we try find a way to run LeagueOL with Vanguard ? :thounking:
Who is the Muslim brada in this video btw ? :BlobhajHeart:
As you may have gathered from the relevant press over the last few days, we at TUXEDO are working on an ARM notebook with a Snapdragon X Elite SoC from Qualcomm.
@tuxedocomputers Nice to see high-end ARM laptops designed for Linux!! 🚀 I was already wondering when the Snapdragon X chips would start to trickle down to Linux OEMs!
@LouisIngenthron That is very likely just the window manager hanging. The OS is probably fine. As mentioned in another reply, ctr-alt-f# can get you to a terminal.
Crtl-alt-backspace, maybe twice, can restart the display manager and get you back to a fresh start with the UI.
It may be good to setup SSH server on the machine so you could remotely login.
One of the saddest parts about trying to use #Linux is the number of replies to people seeking help for common problems that expressly say "Just rebuild everything".
