Saw a couple good this week. First up was the classic adaptation of REBECCA, one of the all time great Gothic romance thrillers. We got to see a lovely print of it on the big screen at the iconic, beloved Hollywood Theater here in . It's an extremely subversive film for the era (1940!!), with brilliant themes and brazen subtext. Was presented as part of a queer film series and the crowd was brilliant - knowing and engaged but respectful. Superb

Weird question for you:

Have there ever been more amazing eye brows than Kim Novak's in 1958?

'Dial M for Murder' is on Kanopy, one of those 0 credit movies. It's a real classic. Not technicolor so its a bit washed out. Turns out it was shot in 3D, you can see some artifacts in some shots. Grace Kelly is stunning in it, both acting and looks. Ray Milland plays his role really well, too. Listen to Bob Cumming's delivery at the start of the film and tell me you don't hear George Peppard. The photo is Hitch's cameo, a black and white pic of a dinner party.

So when Alfred Hitchcock released Psycho in 1960, he went out and bought every copy of the book because he wanted people to be surprised in the theatre.

Features classic stories from Roald Dahl, M.R. James, Evelyn Waugh, Ray Bradbury and more. But let’s be honest, I got this for the AMAZING cover.

The 12th best movie according to our listeners is The Lady Vanishes from 1938.

On our rewatch, we recommend extending comic misunderstandings, talk about pot plant plot points and reveal the most plausible scene of the entire film.

Merci !

Friday the 13th is for all things spooky and scary, but even with all the thrills and chills, there’s one thing that Alfred Hitchcock himself would rather avoid 😱🕸️

Happy Birthday Alfred Hitchcock (August 13, 1899 – April 29, 1980).

Interesting tidbit - his films garnered 46 Academy Award nominations, including six wins, although he never won the award for Best Director despite five nominations.

Check out the marvelous theatrical trailer of The Birds below.

What are your favorites Hitchcock movies or TV episodes?

I included a poll below with his most popular films.
