If your first thought when you hear that a company that makes computers and writes curricula that trains kids how to use computers proudly hired a spy cop and gave the middle finger to those who raised ethical concerns is to defend the company and the spy cop in question, you should take a moment, stop what you’re doing, and give yourself a firm slap in the face.

It won’t change anything but it’ll make me feel better at least.

Really productive couple of days - I fixed two more Raspberry Pi 3B Plus boards, so they'll find new happy owners instead of turning into e-waste.

Somehow both of them had the same issues - blown PMICs and torn mosfets on the bottom part, as well as corresponding traces.

So I restored the traces and covered them with the solder mask. Had to get a UV light for that, but why not - new toy 😃

🤖 Duo S RISC-V/Arm SBC features Sophgo SG2000 SoC, Ethernet, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5 connectivity - CNX Software

「 Linux and RTOS are said to be supported on the Duo S, and you’ll find buildroot-built OS images on GitHub to boot from either the microSD card or the eMMC flash. As of the current v1.0.9 image, Duo S does not yet support wiringX (C) and pinpong (Python) GPIO libraries, and Arduino support is not implemented either 」

Woke up today and videos about from all the big tech channels popped out from youtube news feed. Must have been living under a rock, I wasn't expecting Rpi5 until next year. I was hoping for 6 cores and full size HDMI connector, but you can't win them all. Still exited ... at least we've finally got the power button ... 😎 2 cameras is definitely a plus. And 2-2,5 performance boost (if true), faster memory and GPU, PCIe and SD is awesome.

Over the years I've collected many different single-board computers and microcontroller boards. Too many to even count.

But I don't think I've ever been as excited to get a new one as this: a board from @olimex.

It's a 6502 (well, modern 65C02) mounted on a board, with the IO memory-mapped to an onboard RP2040 so that there is HDMI output, USB, and so on.

Now eagerly waiting for the weekend so I can play with it!

This SBC Case Builder for OpenSCAD, and the SBC Model Library for OpenSCAD it's built atop, is really handy for prototyping cases for newly acquired SBCs, once you get used to the library's board definition format and component library... here's my first pass at adding a NAS board with Rockchip 3588 System-on-Module.
