The Statue of Liberty was a gift to the United States from the people of France. It is an icon of freedom and of the United States, and was a welcoming sight to immigrants arriving from abroad.
This tiny chapel is within the last remaining gate protecting the upper city of Zagreb. There was a fire here in the 17th century and the only thing to survive was an image of the Virgin Mary; the chapel has been a pilgrimage destination ever since. People come to light a candle and thank Mary for protecting them.

Probably our favourite day in the southern Atacama was spent driving up to altiplanic lagoons, lakes at and above 4000 metres above sea level. But equally gorgeous were the views and yellow-striped roads on the way there!
