Political webcomic I quickly drew on my phone right below I step into the shower. Wild how self-deluded the "Biden and Trump are eQuAlLy BaD" self-centered privileged children are. It's easy to pretend like it doesn't matter who you (don't) vote for if you're not part of a marginalized demographic who will suffer far, far, far more at the hands of Trump (or are already suffering and somehow don't think it'll get even worse). The time to vote against Biden was in the primaries--in the general election, a third party or non-vote IS A VOTE FOR TRUMP, and no amount of smarmy foot-stomping is going to change this.

I know it's so much harder than not bothering to vote, but the way you stop the US from funding genocide is ORGANIZING, is physically showing up to protests, is continued calls and letters to your elected officials, is working AHEAD of voting day to for your chosen progressive candidate. If not voting or wasting your vote is what will cause the "revolution" you dream of, then we would have revolted a long time ago.

Last week's statements by the of State:

"We are devolving into a democracy, because congressmen and senators are elected by the same pool.... We do not want to be a democracy.....

"We encourage Republicans to substitute the words ‘republic’ and ‘republicanism’ where previously they have used the word ‘democracy'.... Every time the word ‘democracy’ is used favorably it serves to promote the principles of the Democratic Party, the principles of which we ardently oppose....

In defying OSHA regulations these republican controlled state governments have acknowledged there will be deaths caused by this. Apparently our misery and deaths are a sacrifice they are willing to make. The only way to stop this inhumanity is to vote the republicans out of power.

Imagine you're on a road trip with a friend. Both of you have to stop to pee.

The gas station doesn't have the best bathroom you've ever seen, but you get in and out. You don't have to live there, and when you make it to the hotel the bathroom there will be nicer.

Then you return to the car to find your friend pissed on the car seat because the bathroom wasn't nice enough.

That's what it's like to and share the US with people who won't.

Am I alone in thinking a Trump win could be potentially good for (us in) the rest of the world? A world no more blindly following genocide Joe, and at the very least Trump would fight domestically, if nothing else initially?

"It's not that easy!!" you say. "You're simplifying!" you tell us. "VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO!!" you scream.

Well, you see... we, the rest of the world, don't vote in your petty elections--we just suffer the consequences.

Tribal dems, quack to your handlers.

I am currently voting Biden even though I now despise him because Trump will put people I care about in concentration camps

There are limits

i refuse to vote for a genocider. this is completely rational of me and i won't be guilted into a vote bc i would not be able to look my Palestinian friends in eye for such a betrayal. he is unfit for office. no one should be "okay" with Bidens' actions rg. .

call the white house, call your reps, ask him to resign. ask him to not run. if not, it's fault if they lose, for running a loser, out of touch, candidate.

very simple.

dare you to look into the eyes of a or neighbor and say ""or "it was either him or Trump".

actually don't, bc that would be cruel.

I'm "not enthusiastic" about Biden, in the sense that I'm not enthusiastic about genocide or weak-willed liberal politics-as-usual or continuing Trump's immigration policies or refusing to use the power of the presidency to do fucking anything, but please, lecture me about how young people need to realize that it's this or fascism. I'm sure that'll move the needle.

I cannot stress highly enough that it's not that young people (of which I am not one, by the way) aren't "enthusiastic" about Biden. It's that they're fucking tired of being told that it's this or fascism so shut up. What happened to the idea that a politician had to earn their votes?

Rather than lecturing young people about the consequences of their "lack of enthusiasm" or you can join them in being fucking pissed off that Biden is doing sweet fuck all to earn their goddamn enthusiasm. And if you think that's not a problem, how about the fact that he's losing Black people? Or maybe you think it's racist to criticize Black people for their lack of enthusiasm? How about Muslim Americans?

The Democrats seem to think that they've got a lock on the youth vote, the Black and brown vote, and women, and they don't need to do ANYTHING to earn that goddamn vote. That's not lack of enthusiasm. That's lack of representation.

And anyway, "not enthusiastic" is news-media-speak for "pissed off about his policies," not, " ultimately not going to vote as harm reduction." So miss me with your moralizing screeds about how young people need to be enthusiastic about a politician who has shown almost no concern for them. I'm not fucking enthusiastic about voting as harm reduction either, but I'm going to do it because as you so love to point out, it's this or fascism.

benfell,

@intransitivelie

The "it's this or fascism" argument is just an escalation of the old "the other guy is worse" argument that I've been enduring for decades. It shouldn't be even remotely surprising that when you vote for the "lesser of two evils," you get . . . evil.

If we want progress, we need a far better plan than .

“I Am Done Voting for the Lesser of Two Evils. I Will Not Vote for Joe Biden in 2024.”

"The man who offered his “rock solid and unwavering” support to Israel’s genocide of two million Palestinians in Gaza will not get my vote.

The man whose administration circulated memos prohibiting staffers around the world from calling for deescalation or restraint in the face of ethnic cleansing cannot remain president.

The man who is spending billions of our taxpayer dollars to fund an Israeli war machine that considers Palestinians “human animals” and denies drinking water and food to a million Palestinian children belongs at The Hague, not the White House.

The man who lied about having seen photographic evidence of atrocities that never took place, and strengthened the rhetoric that is spurring anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian attacks in the United States, is not my candidate.

Wadea Al-Fayoume, a six-year-old Palestinian-American child was stabbed 26 times by his landlord in the Chicago suburbs shortly after Biden pronounced his lies. Most Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims I know place the blame for Wadea’s murder largely at Biden’s feet. I do too."

@GottaLaff I woke up to the realization that the fiasco has proven conclusively that the should never have a majority in Congress again. They represent, at best, 40% of America, and they only “win” a majority by extreme gerrymandering and voter suppression.

There’s no way that 8 radical right-wing authoritarians, who probably represent fewer than ten million Americans, should be able to keep congress from working for the other 340 million of us.
