Dropped some updates to selfh.st/apps this morning - tiles now have visible/clickable tags, URL properties have been added for sharing custom views with others, and I've added a ton of new project icons.
I'm completely open to feedback on future improvements, but probably won't consider adding any more details to the tiles to prevent them from becoming too cluttered.
I didn't used to be a "militant" #FOSS user, but I've been bitten too many times by companies with #proprietarysoftware. For example, #Reason DAW, #Zbrush - both companies that decided to say fuck you to perpetual licenses. Now, I try to avoid any proprietary application. I recently went looking for a good notes app and everyone loves #Obsidian. As soon as I saw it was closed source, I noped out and settled on #Joplin. These companies will eventually fuck over customers so I won't waste my time.
Just a thought… Wouldn’t it be nice if capsicum in #FreeBSD could be used in such way that you didn’t need to alter binaries, but from e.g. daemon(8) which would jail your binaries with the restricted capabilities
More Excellent developments on the good work being performed on #NodeBB and interoperability with #WordPress instances endowed with the #ActivityPub plugin:
Winamp is going to publish their source code and go open source!
Who's going to take that nostalgic trip with me and start digging through skins and visualizers?
Spent the day installing #Mint#XFce to an old Acer #laptop of my sister in law's brother (I've converted everyone to #Linux in the family). Acer's firmware was very buggy, so it took tricks to load grub.
Installed them a few apps, and they will be super happy with their new (old) laptop. Previously, #Windows 10 was dying on that laptop, it was that slow, as it was swapping furiously! Mint loaded in about 1 minute, which is good (considering the very slow hdd).
Since we released Ring Racers version 2.1, we’ve been hard at work collecting and addressing feedback for this follow-up. This update includes a modest amount of new content, some new accessibility options, and a large swath of balance adjustments and bug fixes.
This Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we have something special to share! @github made a movie about our founders Mick & Jamie & the story of not only NVDA, but also OSARA. Two life-changing open-source projects. Both actively providing access & employment to blind people around the world.
