Heute nach der Arbeit noch bissl Pferd und Schnee geguckt ehe es zurück zum nicht verschneiten Wohnort ging.
Arbeitswoche geschafft, ich wünsche ein hübsches Wochenende! #landscape#photography#nature#naturephotography#horses
If you’ve ever lost a beloved pet, this story is a good one. I won’t guarantee you won’t cry a little, but it’s still a good story. https://apple.news/Az4G6SudDQF-K5BGa7ZXFzg
Welp, it was starting to storm so off I toddled to put the horses in the barn. Was just about to slip the halter over Miss Pearl’s head when out of nowhere shoots my blue heeler Mosca. She’s on an absolutely UNHINGED tail-tucked tear. Pearl gets spooked, whirls around, backs up directly onto my boot, and executes a perfect 180-degree spin on her haunch, her anchor hoof grinding my foot into powder. Of course the gate is open so now Pearl is also on an unhinged tear, complete with flagged tail and dramatic snorts. As she goes AWOL, I am on the ground, writhing in agony and loosing a torrent of expletives.
Currently nursing 2 busted toes, a glass of cognac, and a deep, seething resentment.
I guess I was lucky it was my demure little 900 lb Arabian and not Teddy the 1300 lb galoot.

It’s a big day here! I’m gonna feed breakfast to all the critters, then hitch up and go down near Portland to pick up our new horse! He’s a very cute bay Morgan gelding, 8 years old and a good boy in the arena, from a good breeder. His name is Scandia’s Signature, Siggy for short.
Our kid is so excited because Siggy is going to be His Horse. He and Siggy both need lessons before they can gallop off into the sunset together, of course, but the breeder knows some trainers up here and I’ll arrange lessons for both. I’m so excited because I love a bay gelding! Bay is just the handsomest color and I’m looking forward to silly friendly gelding behavior. I also get to visit my bff, who set me up with the breeder!!
My old endurance saddle may work for Siggy. It’s a Specialized, one of the lightweight hybrids endurance riders love so much, and it’s got foam pads instead of flocked bars. He looks like he’s got a nice standard back, so hopefully I can make the Specialized work for him by changing out the foam shims to fit his back. Miss D is fully retired from any shenanigans with a bridle, so he can have one of hers. I’ll have to ask K what kind of bit he prefers, but I’ve got a couple of snaffles and maybe a low shank something. Oooh, and I’ll need a girth I’m sure, but I can’t measure that until he’s here.
I talked to my kid, and he’s going to take over the lunch feeding for all the equines. Nobody gets supplements at lunch, just pellets and hay, so the stakes are low 😅
I do hope Miss D likes Siggy. She’s very gay - I don’t think I’ve told yall that yet? She always falls in love with mares she’s stabled next to, full on peeing on the shared wall in heat and screaming for her girlfriend when her girlfriend has to work. About nine years ago, I lived near a friend with a very nicely bred TWH stallion and I decided to breed her - that baby would’ve been so lovely and so gaited! But she spent six weeks stabled beside the stud, refused to flirt with him, and refused to go into heat. When I gave up and hauled her home, the next day she was peeing on the girlfriend wall in delight again. She’s so gay, y’all.
But I’m not dumping a silly young gelding on her alone. I think Samwise will bond with Siggy too and they’ll have a long time together. As long as the silly young gelding yields to her Mare Face they’ll all be fine. #horses#donkey
I would like to say that I prefer to play classical #guitar "with the flesh" (using the fingertips, not nails) because I like the aesthetic, or because I admire Sor's work, or because I prefer the sound.
I do like the aesthetic, I do admire Sor's work, and I do like the sound.
But the real reason is because I keep and work with #horses and consistently maintaining long nails is just… not plausible.
