Signups for Lanwar, the region's premier LAN Party on July 25-28, are going crazy and Lanwar 72 looks to be the largest party in years.
To accommodate, we are expanding the rows this Friday at 10pm. If you are currently at the end of the row and still want to be, move your seat this Friday. (And yes, if you are at the end of a row because you were put there as part of team seating, Bbabe will move your teams seats to the end for you.)
Hey gamers! As we hope you've heard, registration has opened, and it's great to see the sea of orange seats filling up the hall. We'll continue to open up more seats as the hall fills. However, since we're definitely on a solid trajectory for a big event, it's really important that you get your team seating requests in as soon as you can.
New instance, new me?!
Probably not, but at least a new #introduction! :prami_contented:
I’m Katy, a #Chicago transplant living near #Louisville. Originally an #opera & #musical singer, I quickly succumbed to the dulcet tones of a steady paycheck & health benefits. 💸Currently a people person trying to make work work better at a SaaS company.
I have been informed #introductions are all the rage on this app, and I’m never one to miss out on a hot trend 🙃 so buckle up, buckaroos!
My name is Katy, a transplant from #Chicago now residing near #Louisville. Originally an #opera and #musical singer, I traded #creativity for health insurance and the dignity of affording to live. Yay! Currently an Employee Experience Program Manager at a SaaS company.
#Urbanists in #Lexington#Kentucky are invited to provide online public comment for a proposed Campus to Commons Trail, which aims to develop walking infrastructure around #UKY.
Absolutely disastrous application of #AI algorithms by tech bros to design school bus routes result in chaos for #Louisville, #Ky
It could take until the middle of next week to resolve the problems enough to resume classes.
“They were hungry. They were thirsty. They couldn’t use the bathroom. They were scared because they just wanted to get home.” said one parent whose kids didn't make it home until after dark & covered in urine.
Disastrous first day back to school in Louisville, KY, USA.
The Louisville school district hired a consulting firm to redesign school bus routes using algorithms.
The result was a "logistical meltdown...forcing schools to close."
The school district blames driver shortages.
Full-time district drivers work 184 days per year at a $22.78 starting hourly wage, benefits optional (whatever that means). At 8 hours per day, that works out to $33,532 per year.
Substitute drivers make $21 per hour, no benefits.
Seems like those "driver shortages" might be self-inflicted.

Just when you think our predatory for-profit ‘healthcare’ system cannot get any worse a #Louisville hospital is caught dumping sick elderly patients on the sidewalk & leaving them
"Ta-da! My first Mastodon post. I have high hopes for this social site (after becoming disillusioned with several others)."
Hi Brian!
Welcome to Mastodon and the server. I'm really happy that you joined!
I'm adding the #introduction and #introductions hashtags. Hashtags on Mastodon are super-important since there's no AI filling timelines. People follow hashtags. You can search for hashtags of interest and follow them as well (click on a hashtag and then the plus sign). I follow these 2 as well.
Also check the Federated timeline to find people to follow and also check out https://fedi.directory
In short order your timeline will only have posts that you are interested in. This is the best difference from other social media sites. It's why people love Mastodon.
🤦🏻♀️ Two 10-year-old children were found working at a #Louisville McDonald’s restaurant — sometimes until 2 a.m. — the US Department of Labor said Tuesday. #ChildLabor
Time for another #Introduction.
Hoping with practice I’ll feel less awkward.
