This marks year 7 (but year 1 on Masto). That's wild. Feel free to mute the 31 Nights hash OR follow along with me this month. Every post in this thread after this toot will only be under the 31 Nights hash until the end of Oct. New platform does mean potential kinks to work out.
Alright it is an hour until #Monsterdon, your weekly monster movie viewing party. This week we are watching FROM HELL IT CAME (1957), a very dramatically named movie about a killer tree stump.
If you'd prefer not to see a bunch of goofy toots about a corny monster movie, add the tag to your blocklist! Or you can join us, we start at 9pm eastern and the movie is available gratis right over here: https://tubitv.com/movies/507441/from-hell-it-came
It is ONE HOUR until the Sunday night classic #MONSTERDON, wherein we watch and toot about a bad monster movie. You can avoid it with a hashtag filter.
We're watching THE WEREWOLF OF WASHINGTON (1973) which appears to answer that long-pondered question, what if there was a werewolf in the White House? ...No, I'm not joking, that's actually what it's about.
Specifically I'm wondering about the TV frontend UI. Presumably most people are going to be using an android tv box like fire tv or chromecast? Something else?...
In ONE HOUR #MONSTERDON returns! Every Sunday at 9pm EST we watch a monster movie and toot about it! If that sounds annoying, prepare to filter the hashtag.
This week we're watching THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME (1979)! Jack Palance is in this? Is Palance to TSoTtC as Plummer was to Starcrash? Only time will tell!
Folks in a little under an hour your dash will be overtaken by a flood of movie-related commentary that we like to call #MONSTERDON, your weekly monster movie watch-along party. If that sounds irritating I suggest setting up a block for the hashtag in your Preferences page.
OKAY I LET THE EVENING GET AWAY FROM ME but it is --yeesh- FIFTEEN MINUTES until #MONSTERDON which this week is PROJECT MOON BASE (1953) WHY AM I YELLING I DON'T KNOW JUST GO WITH IT
Folks, it is an hour until #MONSTERDON, the weekly monster movie watch party.
This week we're watching KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS (1977), which features William Shatner and about 5,000 spiders. If either of those things is a problem for you, I heartily recommend filtering this hashtag, which can be done in your Preferences.
It is an hour until #MONSTERDON, your weekly monster movie watch party! If you don't want to see a bunch of nerdy monster movie toots, set up a filter for the hashtag.
It's 8pm Eastern which means there's only one hour left until #MONSTERDON, your weekly monster movie watch party. If you don't want your timeline full of toots about a goofy old flick, set up a filter while you can.
This week we're watching LOGAN'S RUN (1976), a sci fi thing about a dystopia that kills you at 30. Jack Weinberg, dictator?
We all either love horror films, or hate horror films. What's that film that kept you up at night? The one that you re-watch all the time? The one that made you groan at 'the big reveal'?...
15-ish minutes to #Monsterdon! This week is SPACE MONSTER DOGORA, which I can only assume is a badly dubbed Zelda boss monster. I'm certain it hates smoke.
Alright it is twenty minutes until #MONSTERDON, which means if you don't want to see a bunch of nerds watching a monster movie you should set up a filter!
Piggybacking on @hacks4pancakes epic thread on the stagnation of hacker culture, what are your favorite movies from the past 10 years or so that revolve around cybersecurity? Pondering a new article but am, let's say, not known for a love of movies. :) #ModernHackers#HackerCulture#movies
Stole this image from someone who stole this image, and I'm stealing the question, too:
WHAT FILM MADE YOU GO 'WTF DID I JUST WATCH'?
Off the top of my head:
Mother! definitely. Also Society, The Outwaters, Final Prayer (aka The Borderlands), Dead Alive (aka Brain Dead), Skinamarink, The Human Centipede, Infinity Pool, Antichrist, Hausu, Secretary. And I love them all.
Request for recommendations: What are three #movies that would be fun to watch together? It doesn't have to be a formal trilogy (though I'd be interested in suggestions for trilogies from outside the U.S.). Could be variations on a theme, best works of a favorite director/actor, etc. Thanks in advance!
Alrighty folks it is an hour until #MONSTERDON your weekly monster movie watch party!
This week is MATANGO (1963), aka Attack of the Mushroom People! A classic by Ishiro Honda of Godzilla fame :D
If you want to mute the hashtag, now's a good time to turn 'em on. If you want to join in, the film's available ad free and gratis over here: https://archive.org/details/1963-matango-anslyn
Once again rises #MONSTERDON, the weekly monster movie watchalong! At 9pm eastern we'll be watching and commenting on a cheesy monster movie! If this sounds bad to you, set up a hashtag filter!
This week is BEYOND THE TIME BARRIER (1960), a movie about a guy who gets transported into the far flung future of 2024, where mutants rule the wastelands!
spoilers ahead I felt like the character conflict arcs were contrived and ultimately the idea of learning a language makes you a pre-cog fell flat for me. In science fiction, the big idea goes 'woo!' or the characters go 'woo!' but in the case of Arrival, nothing really went 'woo!'...
What does your TV/Movie streaming setup look like?
Specifically I'm wondering about the TV frontend UI. Presumably most people are going to be using an android tv box like fire tv or chromecast? Something else?...
Kbin: What is your favourite (or least favourite) horror film?
We all either love horror films, or hate horror films. What's that film that kept you up at night? The one that you re-watch all the time? The one that made you groan at 'the big reveal'?...
This article calls 'Arrival' as 'One of the Best Sci-Fi Films of the Century' but was it? I tried it and I was like ... 'meh' (www.msn.com)
