Because I got asked twice today: No, privacy is not about not using technology at all.
Privacy is about using technology at your terms. It is about not being used by those who make technology.

For this , I want to thank everyone who still wants to own their data. Those who aren't swayed by seemingly valid and effective technical solutions designed solely to entrap. To those who don't believe in the flashy pages created by web giants that promise better results than others and sometimes sabotage competitors to create this illusion. Or embrace and extinguish the competition.

When all our data and activities are chained to the servers and infrastructures of a few entities, what will we truly own?

Another data broker is telling me that they have a „legitimate interest“ in scraping and selling my data because they need to for their business. 🙄 That is not enough.
When someone claims legitimate interest, they have to show that your rights and freedoms do not outweigh their interests. „We want to because money!“ does not quite do that!

Time to prepare my next complaint.

Please remember to check and change the privacy settings whenever you download a new app!
Some (cough most) apps collect and share a lot of your data by default. And not only yours but the data of your contacts as well. That’s why you should opt out and restrict access wherever you can. For your own sake and for the sake of your contacts!

You receive a call on your phone.
The caller says they're from your bank and they're calling about a suspected fraud.

"Oh yeah," you think. Obvious scam, right?

The caller says "I'll send you an in-app notification to prove I'm calling from your bank."

Your phone buzzes. You tap the notification This is what you see.

Still think it is a scam?

Woow! A verified YouTube account is impersonating SpaceX's account and broadcasting a livestream about the solar eclipse. The stream shows a deepfake of Elon Musk asking users to scan a QR code on the screen and deposit cryptocurrencies to have them doubled. 95K users are watching it. The domain name seems to be registered in Russia

Cool ideas for an alternative app store in the EU:
-Privacy focused, real privacy not the "We believe privacy is a fundamental human right" nonsense
-An option to remove ads, even if paid
-An option to disable subscription auto-renewals by default
