a couple of months ago i wasn’t even sure if i was going to keep the Squarp Hapax, & honestly i’m still not 100% locked in on it, as good as it is…but they just dropped a silver faceplate swap for it & im so close to nabbing it, looks pretty fuckin sweet imo.

black faceplate version of Squarp Hapax

The Korg NTS-1 is one of my favorite synthesizers. It doesn't have a sequencer, so i built one with an e-ink display.

MIDI TRS on ESP-32 is simple:
10 ohm resistor from tip to TXD2
33 ohm resistor from ring to 3V3
Sleeve to GND

The new MKII will have a built-in sequencer!

Speaking of the Ensoniq VFX-SD, it was advertised as the “First Music Production Synthesizer”. They must have meant within the Ensoniq family of synthesizers, because this came out in 1989, and before it, there is at least one that precedes it, in 1988. See reply to learn what it is.

The workstation the preceded the Ensoniq VFX-SD is … the Roland D20.

Sequencer, multitimbral, drums, effects and storage either onboard, on ram cards or floppy. Just like the ensoniq. But a whole year earlier.

Even had an optional programmer to make things easier, the PG10.

If we accept synths with smaller than fullsize keys, we can even find 2 more earlier candidates. See replies.

Hello fellow pocket musicians.

, the mobile all-in-one mobile stopped working on Android 14 :(.
That's a shame, I seriously miss it. I used it for two tracks on my last album almost exclusively.

Is there anything similar in terms of a I can use as a replacement? I'm willing to spend up to 20€ for it (Caustic was like 8€ or so).
Would be good to have a

  • pattern --> song structure, so I can use one and the same pattern at different positions in a song. If I change the pattern it will change everywhere, where it's placed in the song structure (not like in stupid LMMS and probably fruity loops)
  • multiple virtual instruments (at least drum sampler, Synth with filter envelopes, Sampler)
  • Chainable effects per track
  • automation of synth/sampler/effects parameters. All of them

Any Idea about a good and fitting alternative?

Hey do you all have any opinions on Arturia minilab vs keystep 37, along with the new IK UNO synth pro X? I’m pondering a setup with these (either or on the arturia controllers of course) plus a nanobox lemondrop. Pedal effects chain considerations: mirrorhouse pedal, and one of these: Strymon Nightsky, OBN Minim, or a Meris LVX. Along with an ana sounds Tape Preamp pedal. :blobcatcoffee:
Desired outcome: NIN “The Slip”, Postal Service “Give Up”, Imogen Heap, 1920’s lounge singer.

“Four-on-the-floor” is the most common pattern. You can see where the name comes from by looking at the beat sequencer below. With this pattern, the kick drum maintains a steady “heartbeat” for the song and is especially popular in dance music.

Is there any way to step through a Keynote presentation using MIDI without spending any money to do it? Basically I want to run a Keynote with lyrics and have it synced to the rest of the sequence

I have wanted a Bastl Popcorn sequencer since I found out about them, but kind of gave up on getting one because they were discontinued before I found out about them.

Randomly checking the Bastl store last night they had like, 1 DIY kit available (at a discount no less) so I snagged it!

:Happy_dance:

They still have the popcorn with gates expander module bundle available, so if you were looking... https://shop.bastl-instruments.com/eurorack/popcorn-cv-expander-alu-bundle.html
