The two greatest challenges facing humanity right now are reversing climate change & halting the spread of fascism.

"Go to an old cemetery. See all the baby graves from before the 1950s & 60s? After that, hardly any. That's when people started vaccinating their children against deadly childhood diseases. If you're unsure what to do to protect your kids, the answer is literally written in stone."

Last week one of my art teachers suggested I 'dial down the feminism.'
Today I showed him my newest piece:

I just heard that an amazing small organisation, a plumbing firm that helps people in need in the north of England, has been literally hounded off the birdsite by Tory trolls who think helping people is "socialism". We can't go helping people for free, now can we? 🙄

But Twitter's loss is our gain, as Depher is now among us at @Depher - please give them a follow and your support.

Chances that a cow steals your shoes are slim, but never zero [h/t All Things Interesting]

A cow approaches a tent early in the morning and accidentally gets the campers shoes stuck on two hooves.

An interesting convergence of forms. One is a tree in the Forest of Dean (Wales, I think?) and the other is a carved stone monolith in the Vigeland sculpture park in Oslo, Norway.

A gnarled tree trunk in the forest of Dean, photo by Caroline Clark. Strange patterns (roots of some kind?) on the surface of the tree look like intertwined human bodies.

Horrifying terror attack in Odessa today. The Russian army has bombed the city again, destroying several buildings including the famous “Harry Potter Castle”.

5 people are reported dead. At least 32 people injured, including a woman walking her dog. The dog — a white medium sized dog, possibly a labrador mix — was killed.

I am seeing reports that the large number of injuries is caused by the use of cluster munitions, but this has not yet been officially confirmed.

We must stop Vladimir Putin.

@randahl Odessa is a World Heritage site - when Putin destroys it, he destroys something that belongs to the whole of humanity. https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1703/

Around 2012, the lichen 'Xanthoria elegans' (commonly known as the Elegant Sunburst Lichen!) was attached to exterior of the International Space Station for 18 months AND SURVIVED!

With no water, no air, extreme temperatures and constant bombardment with radiation!

Stonekettle with his 250k followers claims he was told he was "unwelcome" on Mastodon.

Someone want to tell me why?

Is it because he has so many followers?

🌻 If the press would stop amplifying the voices of a climate change denying few, it would be obvious that the vast majority of the populace in every single country want climate action.🌿

I honestly can't grasp why anyone would lower themselves to use the Zuckerberg platforms. They've been unethical and money-grubbing from the very beginning.
