If you live in the UK or USA, you need to understand one thing about the coming election:

You need to vote defensively.

Neither of the main parties are appealing. But if you don't vote for the lesser evil you may end up helping a totalitarian horror get elected.

Hold your nose and goddamn vote, dammit. THEN go on protests. Because if you don't vote for the lesser evil, the victor will welcome your protests with bullets.

The prize for political purity this time round is a shallow grave.

In the looking glass world OFWAT, reducing or abandoning fines for sewage & other regulatory infractions will encourage the water firms to expand their investment in infrastructure to solve the problems their lack of investment has caused....

So, the one (weak) sanction that they have their abandoning on the basis of an assumption that the water firms will amend their behaviour through persuasion....

If you think this seems a strategy that is unlikely to be successful, I'm with you.

Phoned the council about collecting (they charge for this) some bulky items for recycling. They refused to take:
a metal clothes airer
a small light fitting
a Sky satellite dish.

They told me to take it to the county council dump, but phone them first to check they take this stuff.
'How would I get there? I haven't got a car.'
'Isn't there someone you could ask?'
'No there absolutely is not.'
'I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.'
'I'm starting to understand why people flytip.'

@JugglingWithEggs We really need a law that when any social accommodation is sold the proceeds have to go into a fund to actively build more social accommodation. No exceptions.

Also, if not setting rents so low that they only just cover maintenance, any rent on social accommodation should go into the same 'build more' fund.

I'm aware I'm probably preaching to the choir here ;) .

It's sickens me to my core what Liebour have become under Starmer. We all knew how repulsive and self-serving the CONservatives were. Nobody should be voting for genocide supporters or Friends Of Israel beneficiaries. They already treat the other nations with disdain and disregard our wishes. Vote for a Scottish party that will strive towards independence. The others will continue to use us as a cash cow and a source of resources to be pillaged while Scots get the sharp end. It t'was ever thus.
