So this is it then? A trans person gets murdered at school, the killers don’t even get charged, and we move on like it’s another bad week? What the fuck is wrong with us?

Algorithms are not magic. They are neither good nor evil, but they also aren't neutral. They are just math recipes written by regular ol' dumb human beings, and so they don't absolve us of our responsibilities as human beings. If anything, they amplify them. If you make a bad batch of enchiladas, that's really just a problem for you. If you program a computer to make unlimited batches of bad enchiladas, well now you are assaulting the entire world—the whole enchilada, as it were.
Stop going to Harry Potter land and Harry Potter on Broadway and the Harry Potter store. When brands collaborate with Harry Potter, complain to them. Make it uncomfortable to stoke and celebrate violence against us.

Remember Digg? It once made a big mistake. Everyone left Digg and joined Reddit. Someday, history will repeat itself. That day, Reddit stock will crash post-IPO. Their entire businesses are based on users, and they have been hostile to users for some time.
