Another album released Friday, also from , is Julius Asal's Scriabin – Scarlatti, which seems to have some good reviews, but perhaps I will have to listen to it a couple of times to see it? Asal seems like a competent pianist, yes, but not "uncommon."

Has anyone wrote about how sociological and philosophical writing has changed over the last few centuries from being what the author really meant, really felt, to being what the writer believed people wanted to hear? (Yes, I know there is some Discourse Theory hidden in there somewhere.)

Seeing videos of protestors in so many campuses being abused by coward pig cops . I am so in love with all these brave college students. I am not surprised professors don't have the guts to join then. At least it is very rare that one does. Security in is a powerful drug. Be careful you don't lose your integrity with your confort, @academicchatter.

This week in space stuff:

  • Video coming today on dark energy
  • First science results from the ESA’s dark matter/energy observatory Euclid expected Thursday
  • Possible geomagnetic storm May 24-25, but likely nothing as strong as the one that made the aurora so visible
  • Boeing Starliner currently scheduled for launch Saturday May 25, but this could slip further

I'm watching and we're near the end of season 1.
Definitely discount DS9 so far. They sure did include an episode where the creepy 50-something alien dude decided to introduce another character to strip clubs and gambling, and the way he cheats at poker is using some sort of prehensile sticky tentacle-like appendage to reach across under the table and steal cards from the dealer.
Later confirmed, yes. That sure was a sex organ.
I'm glad that kind of humor has mostly died.

richard,
@richard@disabled.social avatar

@Artemis201 "discount DS9"? Well, in one sense you are correct. JMS didn't have money. Esp. after he pitched to Trek producers (and he had spent years pitching B5 everywhere) and they said no and then they went and created a show based on a space station anyways, with almost the same general story arc, and even stole the name Dukat. So, no, didn't have Trek money. The irony is is the best Trek series of them all and it was completely plagiarized.

There is an interesting album coming out tomorrow. I have more Shostakovich albums than I know what to do with, but I am interested in hearing more of the Carducci String Quartet (elsewhere simply titled, Carducci Quartet). It is his String Quartets Nos. 9 & 15

I am going to be watching "Cold Fire" with if anyone is up this late on a Sunday. I always skip this one. Although Gary Graham is wonderful as Soval in , his one-time role here as Tanis in is awful, imho. Still, I really need a rewatch. As I said I always skip this one on my Voyager rewatches. @allstartrek

"Next steps for the project could include follow-up observations by the James Webb Space Telescope, which would deliver important insights into the planet's surface mineralogy, and the potential for an atmosphere."

The more I see Lisa Kaltenegger in the media the more I get the feeling she is going to end up with egg on her face.

And I am confused, some outlets are saying she works with @setiinstitute, but other media outlets don't mention it at all.

Regardless, she is jinxing it for the rest of us.

Okay, , if nothing this should be a call to make self-publishing significantly more professional.

There needs to be a new system, that is for certain. A writer controlled system.

I got The Trouble with Tycho and Cosmic Engineers two-parter in eBook format. I think I read something about these books before. Pretty sure. More to add to my overwhelming To-Read list.

It is rooted in reciprocity, and respect, and relationality — the three Rs as we call them. So when we're approaching research, we're working respectfully on the land and we're working in reciprocity."
