i have done a thing, lads: i've decided to make a shim to turn Forza Dash telemetry data into Volkswagen PQ35 #canbus traffic and so now, the the software gauge cluster I wrote some years ago is able to display rudimentary in-game driving data
conversely, i could also plug this into my MkV R32 and ruin its value on the market by running up the odometer without actually starting up the car. if i wanted to, y'know. but i don't. but i could.
@WuMargaret I had to write a thing to parse SVG paths in order to embed those little guys in C! A mild pain in the ass but as you can tell, I was successful!
@BBC5Live That's cool! But 1) I'm really missing a video in that video, I want to see what the sport looks like in action! 2) I feel like she has misunderstood something fundamental about that whole "bring your gold medal to your mouth"-ritual that people do :P
An old friend of mine is the owner of a Dutch company called Cruden, creating high-end, hydraulics-based automotive driving simulators. He invited me for a test drive some years ago, and I didn't hesitate. 😃
One of the first #racing game I played as a kid was #STUNTS from Brøderbund. Back in 1992/1993, this #MSDOS game was HUGE on the schoolyard! Especially, because you could make your own tracks and trade them with your friends. It was basically Trackmania in EGA graphics. 😜
#Caterham#Racing Just got some gorgeous pictures back from a few weekends ago, and I know this is a nerdy crowd maybe not into cars, but I need to share them with you. I know some of you have gimpsuits and fursuits - well this is my petrolsuit, so indulge me. I'm #42 in the white+cyan. Yes, that is a HHGTTG reference :-)
Need for Speed Unbound released on #gamepass yesterday and I have some hot takes. First off, the game leads you on by picking a car, getting used to it and then taking it away from you. Not cool IMO, I love the #nissan Silvia S15! Secondly, the game seems slightly rigged. Biggest example is that if I'm going full speed and hit the NOS, I should take the car in front of me over, right? Wrong. They ALL keep the same speed as you! What's the point of NOS then? Finally, the game does feel a little grindy. I could do without the open world and just focus on the races, but you have to race a lot to get a decent amount of money for upgrades. Even then, upgrades are expensive and slightly not worth it, at least not in the first part of the game.
Is it laced with microtransactions to reduce the grind or something? Or just flat out inexplicable grind? Neither are great, but your experience has me curious
@gmr_leon I haven’t played a racing game like NFS in many years but you would think that there would be a decent progression model between winning races and upgrading parts/cars. No MTX but the grind is Sssslllloooowwwwwwww.
