Her post has gone viral, which is, of course, how I'm sharing it, which also pretty likely means this young woman now has an actual horde of right-wing extra-super-MAN-men sending her threats and harassment to somehow impossibly prove how wrong she is, so it's probably worth pointing out that the fundamental essence of right-wing ideology is bad problem-solving skills and a constitutional, relentless and even violent commitment to enforcing shitty hierarchies that CREATE most problems in society.
"Conservative" responses to problems are provably bad, ineffectual and, thus, problem-INFLAMING because conservative ideology absolutely insists you do. not. fucking. meaningfully. address. or even RECOGNIZE. the. problem.
Empathy is innate. It is how we learn things from our first breaths. It has to be DEconditioned and one function of right-wing political thought for 50 years in this fucking country - from Limbaugh to Fox News to splintered micromedia like Rogan and Tate - has been to decondition empathy in as many people as possible by selling them tribalism and faux-aggrievement at people daring to step outside of the hierarchal "natural order." This is INTRINSIC to the ideology and why it became an actual fascist movement.
"The beatings will continue until morale improves" is an old old pre-meme-era meme, but it is pretty much the very ethos of contemporary right-wing problem-solving and the rudimentary explanation of why it is just programmatic sociopathy.
@GrimmReality It's funny, but my understanding is it's a mistranslation from Japanese of a sentence that could also be rendered as "the defeats will continue until morale improves". Which is a lot less incongruous …
And if you happen to see a giant red arrow pointing to other things happening right now, like say to administrators at Columbia University or any other institute of higher learning where kneejerk reactionary fuckheads decided to just blithely call in goons to beat their problems (kids mad at war) away, that giant red arrow very much exists and it is the bright pulsing neon Vegas-strip version.
@justafrog@GrimmReality whereas I've had to take four left turns or pause for a cigarette somewhere with many witnesses and streetlamps because of a dude following me at night more than I'd like
@amberage@justafrog@GrimmReality This is why I'll cross the road and slow right down if I ever find myself too close to a lone woman in the street.
A previous gf of mine had a stalker who, when Thatcher was visiting the town, lost her police protection officer. She was raped and stabbed. (She recovered).
@GrimmReality been living and exploring, often by myself, in bear country my whole adult life. I carry bear spray for bears and men but am far more scared of encountering the latter when I’m by myself out in wild places
@sarae@apgarcia@GrimmReality I have been surrounded by raccoons in l48 that legitimately terrified me. Relentless, fearless, fierce, determined — plus those stories of people being attacked by rabid ones that bite and don’t let go! Aaaaack!
@GrimmReality This should be a profound learning/listening moment for men. Surprise.
Facts teach women that the real life chances for any women to be attacked, raped, or murdered by a bear are miniscule vs the high risk of the same from men.
Six women where killed by any type of bear from 2020-2024. Almost 5,000 women where murdered by men in the US in 2021 alone.
Oddly, men are also more likely to be murdered, attacked, or raped by other men, too, than by bears.
I’m a hermit. What the shittin’ fuck is this man vs bear thing?
Did the Tucker-boiz give up on UV dong lamps and crossfit, and move on to sexually assaulting bears?
