What’s nice about mastodon posting is that its also just an RSS feed if they choose to promote it. You don’t even need a mastodon account to follow it.

Just because it is one of the most beautiful translations of a German state: #rheinlandpfalz becomes Rhineland-Palatinate. Granted, it's also beautiful apart from translations.
@mho@ltrlp Honestly it never even made sense for any sort of official things to use a service owned and controlled by a private corporation with its own rules that don't even all coincide with actual laws. Something like Mastodon is absolutely perfect -- especially if they just host their own official instances. People can see alerts/etc without any filtering beyond what any app they might use might have built in (which is easily dodged simply by using another or using the instance directly.)

Electeds will not show up here until the local community is active. I'm trying my best to organize and connect with folks in my local community - but bootstrapping is a hard sell.
To get people here, what can you do so that politicians show up?
Evangelism of this space as a non-corporate, non walled-garden commons helps. Posting and boosting things you want to see here, helps. Organizing with likeminded people here helps. Calling out nonsense here (assorted -isms and -phobias) so that marginalized groups have better experiences helps.

There should also be more cell phone "stock images" with Mastodon icon, quite naturally pictured next to the large Wallets Gardens (have the days times a reporting on public television/ARD perceived, where I noticed)...we need, no doubt, a long, thoughtful breath 😌...
@mho@ltrlp One of the reasons I left Twitter was because I reported holocaust-denying content that claimed Nazis were the victims and they got back to me saying it didn't constitute hate speech and the tweet in question would stand.
