We salute the courage of the students occupying Columbia University in protest against the university's complicity in the genocide in Gaza. The New York City police have surrounded the area and violently arrested supporters, but the occupiers stand firm.
When you seize Columbia, when you
seize Paris, take
the media, tell the people what you’re doing
what you’re up to and why and how you mean
to do it, how they can help, keep the news
coming, steady, you have 70 years
of media conditioning to combat, it is a wall
you must get through, somehow, to reach
the instinctive man, who is struggling like a plant
for light, for air
when you seize a town, a campus, get hold of the power
stations, the water, the transportation,
forget to negotiate, forget how
to negotiate, don’t wait for De Gaulle or Kirk
to abdicate, they won’t, you are not
‘demonstrating’ you are fighting
a war, fight to win, don’t wait for Johnson or
Humphrey or Rockefeller, to agree to your terms
take what you need, ‘it’s free
because it’s yours’
Hello Masto !
I write python in shell. Literally. I made a shell function file (pnk.lang) that prints correct python code. The capital letters in the shell function’s name, my Tkinter IDE turns into color as you see above. So I let the color (capital letter) abstract away indentation for my brain. The second letter is for category of python code according to me. Again using color to allow me to think. I dont like Python syntax. I looks ugly to me. So I made this tool to make coding colorful, succint and fun for me. It reduces my eye strain among many other personal benefits.
We’re looking for people interested in presenting two of the remaining chapters in our book club: #13 on Build automation with targets (ideally in calendar week 17 or 18; at 4:00-5:30 PM CEST) #15 on CI/CD pipelines (ideally in calendar week 20 or 21; at 4:00-5:30 PM CEST)
Louis’ list comes from the perspective of moral in the sense that “were the people that provided you entertainment value provided appropriate compensation” which is why the list is ordered this way.
Looking at it in the lens of preserving items for the common good, this could take form of #1 or #3, where you bought a copy but you don’t want it to degrade or fade into obscurity, but it could also be #15 where you just don’t want to lose it and it doesn’t matter to you whether the creator should have benefited.
Haven't shared a #knitting project in a while. This is a triangular scarf/cowl, knitted end to end, in bulky/#6 yarn. I used Loops & Threads Ringspun in Concord Multi and a #15 circular needle (the project is worked flat). Easy project as it's all garter stitch. #indieauthorlife#thingsidowhendepressed

Recently hopped over to Lemmy from Reddit, initially tried Boost and the web app and wasn’t super happy with the experience however after installing Singing I can happily say the experience has improved vastly. It feels more promising and premium than the actual official Reddit app!
Regarding #15. In didn’t tap a link in Voyager. I tapped “Share” and then chose the DuckDuckGo browser as the share target for the URL. I do this occasionally since it’s not my default browser and I use it for throwaway links I don’t want to clutter Firefox with.
In every other app, not just Lemmy ones, it simply opens the browser as a new process and loads the URL. On the other hand, Voyager some how opens the browser as Voyager. When opening the recent apps list, I no longer see Voyager. I only see DuckDuckGo with the Voyager icon above it.
Once the page is open, if I tap into a link on the page, then another, then another, I know have to hit Back 3 times to get back to Voyager.
"Weeklybeats is a 52 week long music project in which artists compose and publicly release 1 song a week for the entire year. Starting January 1st 2024 GMT each participant will have one week to upload one finished composition. Any style of music or selection of instruments are welcomed and encouraged."
Okay yeah, as expected, the mastering on #WeeklyBeats#15 is a mess. There was some clipping in the exported song, but I had run out of time to fix it.
I'm nevertheless quite satisfied with the track, even though it's darker than what I usually create or enjoy.
If you listen to it, I highly recommend real speakers or headphones, no tinny laptop or smartphone speakers, because the mix only sounds worse on them.

Here’s a table I adapted from Louis Rossman’s video on the levels of piracy, grey areas and his morals and ethics on it. (spreadsheet file)...
Sync for Lemmy is crazy good!
