I thought the battery of my ancient #Android phone had finally given out. Battery went from fully charged to empty in a heartbeat.

However #Proton app was somehow stuck trying to fetch notifications, so I killed it, thinking this was a battery drain. It likely was.

Along the way I found a real useful feature: Data Saver 😃

After I turned this on my battery lasts for days now, and I don't get superfluous notifications anymore either.

GitNex 5.5.0 is now OUT with a new comment UI, the ability to update your profile avatar, the option to insert notes to issues/PRs/releases, and many other improvements.

Muss schon sagen, coden für #Android ist so viel angenehmer, als für #iOS.

Die Entwicklungsumgebung basierend auf #IntelliJ ist so viel besser als #Xcode.

Für die fertige App einfach ein APK erstellen und auf meinem Smartphone installieren. Fertig!

Keine knapp €100 teure Gebühr pro Jahr für ne poplige Entwicklerlizenz bezahlen müssen.

Hab den Umstieg von #iOS auf #Android nicht bereut. Ganz im Gegenteil. Will nie wieder dieses einschränkende #iOS. 👍

The nightly version of #Firefox for #Android on 32-bit ARM phones is broken.

It's likely caused by a compiler bug but I'm not sure yet. In the meantime you can use the beta/release versions which both work fine.

Does anyone know of a modern #Android phone which allows call recording without root?

I'm currently on an aging 5T running #LineageOS and can record calls just fine - a button in the dialler lets me record straight from the line. I don't need to put it on speaker and record via the microphone.

(Looking for 1st hand experience, not search results. No need to reply to discuss the legality of call recording. I need root-less for online banking etc.)

Ugh. Turns out that the one-time-payment-to-remove-ads offline music player app I had on my phone before I had to factory restore it had moved to a subscription model (with a substantially higher price per months too) at some point.

Anyone got any others? I was using RocketPlayer.

It specifically needs to be offline, playing files from the phone's memory and with support for playlists. Preferably no ads, or under AU$10 to remove ads, and not a subscription model.

This is going to sound dumb...

I've wondered for years why I couldn't send emoji in text messages (MMS).

Quite by accident, I've discovered that, all this time, I could. All I had to do was press, and hold, the enter button on the AOSP keyboard. This raises the emoji selector.

Why did no-one tell me?
