LOL: HP wants you to rent a printer from the company via its new subscription service.

My suggestion: Just follow The Verge's advice and buy a Brother laser printer. I'm very happy with mine — something I never expected to say about a printer.

An electrical appliance in our kitchen refused to work for several days.

When all attempts to fix it had failed, we somewhat reluctantly acknowledged the presence of the Trickster archetype, which has the power to disrupt or ‘overthrow programs’ (according to Jung and Campbell).

The appliance now works.

Caution: Individual results may vary, (as they say on TV).

Hello friends, I hope you're all having a good Hump Day! Mine is pretty good, I'm off work. We bought a new stove today with delivery this coming Saturday. It was under $1k for the stove, delivery and hauling away the old one. It could have been worse, my wife loved this BlueStar commercial model, it was on sale for $10k...

Have a great afternoon, I'm off to help my wife with a project.

Does anyone in know where I can get refrigerant removed safely from a fridge and freezer?

I ask because I need to replace my old ones and would like to use the parts for other things, especially the two compressors.

We’re shopping for a new refrigerator and TIL there is a fairly available “Sabbath Mode” feature now (188 models at Best Buy, for example). https://support.frigidaire.com/Owner-Center/FAQs/Refrigerators/how-do-i-set-sabbath-mode-on-my-refrigerator/

Re: shopping for refrigerators. Anyone have strategies they’ve used?

Any stores, probably a chain, that employs people who actually know their appliances, not just a kid who would read the tags like we can?

I’m a little overwhelmed by the sheer mountain of models, product lines, etc. I added a handful of filters at Best Buy and there’s still roughly fourteen kajillion fridges to look at.

Here is a cool little gadget I'd never heard of before. It's a temperature datalogger. It lasts 60 days. Sadly I think it may be disposable (but I'd imagine rechargeable versions exist. )

Suppose you are shipping fruit across the country and you've paid extra to have the trucks chilled down to 65F. How do you know they didn't ship them at 75F and only lower the temp fully just before arrival?

Hide this bad boy in your shipment, then check the USB for data on arrival.

They cost about $4 each.

One dream that came true this time at #Pilchuck for me was to have a fruit party! I just started eating fruit this month and it's a whole new world! I also love the idea of making craft appliances that can act as functional sculptures.

This one is for parties- designed to mix fruit, people and ideas, it would be neat to make a big one with a weed whacker!

Closeup of the momentary safety activator switch I pulled out of the old blender. It needs its safety switch to turn on- safety first! I 5 minute epoxied it to the cleanable glass base

Our washing machine is (finally) on the fritz. It is top loader that is into year 15-ish. Switching to front loading for the water savings.

Anything I should look out for? Brand/model recommendations?

jasonnab, to random

For any or folks, I am just wondering what these clicks from my fridge are...

Often times, the fridge will attempt to start up with these clicks in fast, successive attempts, but will not start. It will go quiet again for 30 seconds, try again with these clicks, and THEN it will start up.

I am just wondering if I should be concerned or not, if the fridge is failing or not. Fridge model in second reply.
