Tunnel hill access to Niagara Falls in Goldstream Park is only fully dry in Summer. In Winter - access is safer via parking on other side of highway & taking the hiking trail from there.
Tucked away off main trail towards the nature house was this super cool & huge uprooted tree. There was a lot of petrified wood on it. I really dig petrified wood😀
@drewphish It's easy to go north or south from Washington State into Idaho. (Going south there's even a bridge!) It's easy to go east or west from Washington State into Oregon, obviously. It is also just barely possible to go north from Washington State into Oregon on land.
But as far as I can tell, there's no way to go west from Washington State into Idaho. The rivers! They failed me!
Please enjoy & excuse my not smiling face.
I wanted to show folks that nature never wastes anything. I wanted to show how this dead tree is feeding new life growths & how many animals benefit from us letting nature do its thing.
I saw this huge Douglas fir tree trunk on our way back to parking spot.
When I first saw it - shouted out - LOOK AT THAT! They are WOOD SHORTS!
Then, my friend took a pic of me with the big wood shorts.
Nadene, standing on old growth big leaf maple tree stump. I loved the gooseneck thick branch that extends out. There's huckleberry, cedar, big leaf maple & Douglas fir babies growing out of the stump.
