How much Brandon Sanderson can I read this year before burning out? I just bought 4 of his secret novels and am on book 3 of my re-read of the Stormlight Archive before the next book comes out. I finished re-reading Mistborn last month. #cosmere
I'm a network design engineer that enjoys #nfl (Chicago Bears) Lord of The Rings, #marvel /DC, #starwars , epic fantasies/sci-fi (book and cinema), and video games (MMOS and RPGS with some FPS and Strategy). also enjoy having conversations about #science , society, #news, and #politics . And l love learning new things!
I also have a dog, Elroy, who is 13 and is full of character.

Thanks! My favorite #comicbook character is probably a tie between Captain America and Spider-Man . My favorite #fantasy book is really hard to pick. Lord of the rings is definitely up there, but I would have to say that my favorite is the first book in the storm light archive The Way of Kings #cosmere.
My favorite #videogame is another hard one. But I would have to say it would be Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. And here is one of my favorite pictures of Elroy.
Hey, so, I've been reading Yumi and the Nightmare Painter and...
Does anyone else get Big Trans Vibes off of this? Like, if you were to read Painter and Yumi as two halves of a single trans person? With Painter as the listless transfem egg and Yumi as the abused, repressed self inside, finally experiencing freedom and liberation for the first time?
I'm not done with the book yet, but the scene where Yumi got to go clothes shopping... 👀👀👀
I spent all of Monday and Tuesday of this week at a Brandon Sanderson Book Convention here in Salt Lake City called Dragonsteel. I’ve read every Sanderson book (& live 4 blocks away), so I had to go. 😂
It was a fun, nerdy con that reminded me of some of the first anime conventions I went to in the 90s.
If you’d like to see what it’s like to attend, I wrote a blog post about my experience (with a bunch of pictures).
#BrandonSanderson wrote this anime-inspired Korea/Japan-like setting romance novel during the Covid days. It's got #BodySwap shenanigans like #YourName, but in a sci-fi /fantasy setting. The romance plot and focus on fantasy jobs was inspired by #FinalFantasyX.
Unfortunately, even if it's a standalone novel, it requires understanding the basics of Hoid and the #Cosmere to understand the full context, so not a good first book of his to start with.
Though some of you might already be familiar with the Cosmere, to those who aren't I think this would be a fantastic introduction, if you like fantasy....
I finished #Yumi and The Nightmare Painter by #BrandonSanderson. I loved it! One of my favorite #cosmere books. I feel like the romance felt a bit abrupt but it won me over in the end. The world building, as always, was a delight. And the illustrations were jaw-droppingly gorgeous. This would make a decent entry point for new readers, though they will miss the many cosmere connections. What did you think? (Spoiler for cover)
I finished Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by #BrandonSanderson. It's ... not his best. It's not even the best Secret Project. To summarize: Part 1 was unnecessary. Just eliminate all but two chapters and add those to the current Part 2. Too much of the plot was repetitive and unpleasant and frankly dull (for me). There were excellent parts to it, but in the end, it is one of my least favorite #Cosmere books. I'll write a full review later in the week.
1/2
I'm reading Secret Project 3, and I'm having a tough time. I seriously think that in the past 10 years, Brandon has taken way too long to start the story. For real: if you eliminate Part One, the story would make perfect sense. You'd have to drop some of the backstory and worldbuilding in later ... and it would, in my opinion, work better to have that after the story starts, instead of after several chapters of "not the story". #Cosmere#BrandonSanderson
This book was great! And you want to talk about a lore dump, wow! So much cosmere information was in this book. A lot of the subtle stuff in his other books is starting to make more sense.
This book felt like a fast paced non-stop action story with great character development along the way. And a great, but emotional, ending.
