Alas, I have to consider some other hardware that is more BSD friendly than what I currently have for my main laptop. Wifi worked great on NetBSD, whereas it was flaky on FreeBSD, but the audio input was the flaky one.

A ThinkPad, maybe? I'll gladly accept hardware recommendations for BSD-friendly models from at least a decade ago (read: cheap).

Seems that to this day a package for is still not built for the raspberrypi in 14-RELEASE. Without it, Office365 isn't 100% usable in it, and I'm forced to choose Debian at work despite the huge performance gap.

(N.B.: 100% would ditch it to use only Firefox if the support was the same, but alas, it's MS after all)

Just a thought… Wouldn’t it be nice if capsicum in could be used in such way that you didn’t need to alter binaries, but from e.g. daemon(8) which would jail your binaries with the restricted capabilities

@rvstaveren There you go:

It is called oblivious sandboxing AFAIK.

Ryan Stone has worked on it at one point. I don't remember the details though.

Congrats on breaking all of my staging bastions w/the 24.x upgrade!

The excuse, "it is what it is" from Franco: https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=38665.0 :blobfoxangrylaugh:

Bastions restricting SSH to only allow non-{root/admin} users is proper security, yet Franco thinks only root level accounts should get SSH? 🙄

Goodbye . Migrating bastions to a custom BSD-RP image w/ proper security

Want to run the same command again? In many shells (e.g., tcsh, zsh, bash) you can type "!!" to recall last command and run it. Example:

apt install nginx # missed sudo
sudo !! # this will run sudo apt install nginx
