Is it possoble to configure Friendica that way that in the timelinines only appear First-posts never comments on first-posts?
Sometimes a timeline is cluttered with comments from one first-post with a subject i'm not interested in.
@shelenn@michel Yes this is v desirable. I'm really enjoying my #Friendica UX, but this specific aspect of its UI is one for which i wish they'd copy the Masto (#GlitchSoc?) way of doing it.
Other recent changes include updated Spanish translations, fixing the font shown when viewing a post's history, workarounds for buggy behaviour from #Mastodon, #Pleroma, and #Friendica servers, and more.
Hello. There is a certain "network weirdness" that irregularly afflicts my use of #Friendica in my browser. Most of the time this misbehaviour does not occur, but each time it does arise, i can never identify its cause, nor even any consistent pattern of other symptoms that might lead to uncovering its root cause. I also don't know if there's some esoteric setting in my Friendica account's Settings doing this, that i might have overlooked.

Pic shows my desktop #Conky for network activity, with random bouts of my full available download & upload capacity consumed by my Friendica browser tab. Pic shows some breaks wherein both UL & DL revert to their normal "background noise" levels, & these occurred when i reloaded the tab, &/or when i closed the browser. Note that "background noise" levels are the norm for this tab; the weird activity is a small minority of the overall browsing time measured over months & years, nevertheless this problem still arises far too often for my liking.

In dem einen oder anderen Beitrag habe ich auch schon gelesen, das der Urheber des Spam-Angriffs wohl schon ausgemacht worden ist.
Wird wohl hoffentlich nicht mehr lange dauern, bis das Gespamme ein Ende nimmt.
Mindestens blöd ist die Situation für Admins, welche gar nicht reagieren oder derzeit nicht reagieren können - Reputationsverlust ohne Ende.
Since the BridgyFed drama, there might be four more reasons for Mastodon users to want Friendica, Hubzilla and (streams) out of the Fediverse. I mean, aside from their usual atrocities like their users writing well over 500 characters, using text formatting, quoting and quote-posting like it's totally normal. Because it is for them. And aside from no instance on any of the three having rules and moderator numbers on par with Mastodon.
One, they aren't based on ActivityPub. They're technically bridged to Mastodon. They're bridged one instance at the time, and the bridge is a plug-in on the instance and therefore part of the project. But still, it isn't that much different from BridgyFed connecting Bluesky to the rest of the Fediverse.
Two, since they aren't based on ActivityPub, they're aliens. Aliens of basically the same kind as Bluesky, only that they've mostly got those features that Mastodon has that Bluesky doesn't. But the BridgyFed drama isn't about Bluesky's features or lack thereof, and it isn't only about Bluesky being commercial either. It's also about Bluesky being too different in technology, functionality and culture. But let me tell you a secret: Bluesky is probably much closer to Mastodon than Hubzilla. I mean, I've already mentioned how Friendica, Hubzilla and (streams) users "misbehave" from a Mastodon point of view. You won't see any of this come from Bluesky anytime soon.
Three, Friendica is already fully federated with Bluesky. It's a feature that was introduced with the latest stable release.
Four, speaking of Friendica, that allegedly "hate-fuelling" Fediverse News is a public group account on Friendica. Only that the user who started that particular thread is on Firefish, and Fediverse News only automatically forwarded what he had posted.

"building a bridge between ActivityPub and AT Protocol" ... yes i had heard of that, but til now had been naively unaware of all the Sturm und Drang this is apparently generating, eg... "so angry that they are flipping out and dropping F bombs" --> to the extent that i am doing my several hours of daily fediversing, i spend all that time in my Home timeline, not in the local server nor global timelines, & in my Home i follow a very large number of #hashtags, + a smaller but not negligible number of accounts. Clearly an unintended by-product of my curation has been to insulate me almost entirely from these apparent "range wars" raging beyond my purview.
You listed #Friendica twice, ie, in both of the "protocol camps". Is that a typo, or deliberate? If the latter, it might explain & resolve my confusion when reading Jupiter's OP, given somehow i had been thinking that Friendica is using AP.

@helpers For the past few days i've puzzled over the fact that my browser (#Floorp)) had stopped displaying #DesktopNotifications for my #Friendica account, despite me still having them enabled both in Floorp, & in #KDEPlasma. As Floorp had had an update several days ago, i began wondering if maybe the latest version might have broken its Notifications function. However today i eliminated that possibility by verifying that also my Vivaldi & #FirefoxNightly browsers no longer give me my Friendica DN [&, like Floorp, they certainly used to]. So then i began wondering if maybe @alfred might have recently upgraded their server version of Friendica, & that said putative version was buggy. I decided it would be judicious to take a quick look at my Friendica account Settings, before posting a question about that.
Whoa! Well, i found the problem... but i do not understand how/why. Many months ago soon after creating this account, i had adjusted all my Settings to suit my preferences, & ofc one of those was to enable Desktop Notifications [otherwise, for months, i'd not have been receiving DN in all three browsers, til recently]. However, now, that setting had been lost, ie, it had reverted to default, ie, disabled.
Wtf? 😮
Now that i've re-enabled it, happily i'm once more getting my Friendica DNs. 🥳🎉
But... how on earth had that setting become disabled recently? 🤯 🤷♀️

@raroun Das löst #Friendica, je nach Einstellung selber aus. Aber wenn die Datenbank gross oder riesig wird, wird das offenbar ein langer Prozess. Mein Provider hat mich gemahnt, das sei zu lang, da würde der automatische Backup-Prozess gestört... @zwovierzwo@nick@feb

Nun wenn ich das immer richtig lese müssten bestimmte Dienste des Meta Konzerns schon lange in Europa abgeschaltet werden.
Ebenso gewissen Betriebssysteme die hier im Einsatz sind.
Aber das wird keiner wagen, denn wenn die ganzen Dinge nicht mehr zur Verfügung stehen, steht zum einen die Wirtschaft still und die Bevölkerung die sich an diese Dinge schon gewöhnt haben wird aufstehen.
Das ist wie bei einem Drogenabhängigen - nimmst du ihm das Weg (weil es ja ihm nicht gut tut) dann ...

@cairobraga yes and it also depends on what the hosting admin has activated eg. is RSS posting active or not. My #Friendica site is auto posting from my blog RSS feed.
My issue was losing my own hosting with Hubzilla as I moved everything to Docker and at the time that was not an option. Hubzilla's nomadic ID is amazing tho.
It seems clear to me that the tech press, even those friendly to decentralization, are only interested in Threads, Bluesky, and whatever new idea some other VC fund or billionaire come up with. Mastodon and AP are mentioned in passing if at all. That's unfortunate. It's not just a chasing the money thing because it's the likes of people who have proven not to succumb to that, I'm not naming names. We on the D* and AP side of the fediverse, or social web as I have heard people call it recently, can still go about our business improving things incrementally and doing what we've always done. If another wave comes and we catch it fine. The tech press and pundits, even fediverse friendly ones, have sadly moved on. Ironically most of the articles I see on why they like Bluesky more than Mastodon, the rest of the fediverse doesn't get recognized at all ever and never has by these same people again except maybe in passing, are reasons why I haven't liked my Bluesky experience (which I've thankfully integrated into the Friendica part of the fediverse I reside in thanks to its bridge). But anyway...back to incremental improvement and growth and doing our own thing with the "normies" not considering us a valid option for the time being again. #rant#fediverse#bluesky#mastodon#friendica

Another good reason for being able to quote-boost is that you could add hashtags left off by the original poster - eg #auspol for an Australian politics post. As it stands, I can't boost a politics post that doesn't have that hashtag without breaking the rules of my instance.
Hallo Profis, ein User auf anonsys.net hat ein Problem mit der iOS App "Mona". Er kann ohne Probleme Beiträge erstellen aber sobald er in der App ein Bild mit hochladen möchte klappt das nicht. Es kommt folgende Fehlermeldung in der App: Dein Beitrag konnte nicht gesendet werden. Mastodon: Entität konnte nicht verarbeitet werden @heluecht hat mir gestern zur Fehleranalyse den Tipp gegeben in den Logs nach GET /api/v1/timelines/public zu suchen um dann weitere Analysen durchführen zu können.
Das Problem ist nur, dass zu dem Zeitpunkt bei der User versucht hat das Bild hochzuladen, dieser Eintrag gar nicht auftaucht. Ich interpretiere das so, dass beim Absenden des Bildes die App aus irgendwelchen Gründen gar nicht zu anonsys.net durchkommt? Verdacht wäre ein lokales Problem mit der verwendeten App?
Allerdings ist das seltsame, dass der gleiche User auf loma.ml ebenfalls ein Konto hat und dort klappt der Bildupload mit "Mona".
Jetzt weiß ich ehrlich gesagt auch nicht mehr was ich bei mir noch überprüfen kann?
Habt ihr irgendwelche Tipps?
@raroun Nein, nicht abstrus, sonderen dem Zweck angepasste Plattform auswählen. #Friendica ist Micro- und Macroblogging #Pixelfed ist fürs Teilen von Bildern.
Dea ist eben das #Fediverse. Es gibt nicht die ein und alle Plattform für ein und alles. Sondern es gibt verschiedene Dienste - sie sind alle über #ActivityPub verbunden.

Warum kann man dies nicht dem Uploader überlassen - kleines Fenster ob er und wie er komprimieren möchte und fertig ... natürlich muß der Admin halt die Komprimierung dann auf 100% oder weniger eingestellt haben (der Master hat dann immer Recht) aber bis zu dem Wert sollte man dies dem Nutzer überlassen.
Wobei ich sagen muß das #friendica für Bilder jetzt auch nicht meine erste Wahl wäre.
