I will likely continue to quick cook mine, EXCEPT when I have older, tougher nopal I want to cook, where the boiling breaks down the toughness.
Tip: Scramble the eggs separately, adding the eggs to this, the eggs bind to the liquids and makes cactus-tomato-egg-drop-soup, LOL. Which is fine, but not what I was aiming for. #cactus#gardening#food
@ai6yr My Mom keeps trying to get me to love nopales, and I've had them like twice where they were bomb, getting rid of the gooey for sure is part of what did that. Mexican friends eat it way more often and I wish it was more part of the staple diet here from being known. We stay out here watering water intensive crops, like almonds, in a desert. This here makes sense.
