X offered 25,000 euros' worth of advertising credits to Paris-based Reporters Without Borders. A follow-up tweet from X CEO Linda Yaccarino celebrated "shining a spotlight on the remarkable organizations worldwide that are making a significant impact through their vital work."
Just one problem: Reporters Without Borders, also known as Reporters Sans Frontières or RSF, says it turned the money down.
Linda Yaccarino on Twitter: "Today @elonmusk gave a wide ranging and candid interview at @dealbook 2023. He also offered an apology, an explanation and an explicit point of view about our position. X is enabling an information independence that's uncomfortable for some people. We're a platform that allows people to make their own decisions. And here’s my perspective when it comes to advertising: X is standing at a unique and amazing intersection of Free Speech and Main Street — and the X community is powerful and is here to welcome you. To our partners who believe in our meaningful work -- Thank You."

So what is now the point of #LindaYaccarino now that #ElonMusk has literally told advertisers to go fuck themselves? What possible function does she now have? Why not resign?
Kudos to IBM's reaction after #ElonMusk endorsed even more antisemitic content on X
"In a statement, IBM said it “has zero tolerance for hate speech and discrimination, and we have immediately suspended all advertising on X while we investigate this entirely unacceptable situation.”
Meanwhile, Musk gets more and more vile, as he uses his platform to boost right-wing extremism. He hates journalism, and he amplifies enemies of democracy.
Yet journalists continue to pour their work into that poisonous place, thereby directly supporting his business.
Shame won't change their minds, obviously. I'm at a loss to know what will.

Vox’s Peter Kafka, who has been going to the conference since it started in 2008, called it “the weirdest session I’ve ever seen.”...
