In its justification, it commits itself to the principles of the #Fediverse and #OpenScience:
"Freie Universität Berlin has been present on Mastodon since December 2022. #Mastodon is part of the decentralized Fediverse network. Compared to large commercial social networks, Mastodon relies on chronological feeds and reduces the algorithmic sorting of posts. This ensures that information is always openly available and reduces the likelihood of so-called filter bubbles forming."
Would you let these Copilot+ Windows PCs into your business? History tells us that cyber criminals will find a way to breach security and access this Recall data. It has to be decrypted for the user to access it. And we all know that users accounts never get compromised. What could possibly go wrong? 🤦🏻♂️ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cpwwqp6nx14o
@ianRobinson No, I would not. But they are going to come in, people I work with will use them, and thus we are all compromised. Just like we used to get spam just from being stored in a hacked relative's Outlook email address book. Except now it is all of your communications, data others hold about you. All to train the great AI. Maybe security by obscurity is better here on #mastodon, just put the email pipe down.
Anyone have an email sig we can at least pre-shame people with?
It is annoying in #mastodon to still keep missing a lot of interesting posts by people in my list, which live in an almost specular time zone. although I have put them in dedicated lists, if I forget to check them regularly, their stuff is just lost to me.
So the only thing is to click on the 🔔 for each of such profiles. That however messes up with the notifications.
ffff....
I'm mostly at my standalone GoToSocial server these days. I tried migrating this account again, and this time I figured out the problem: I'd misconfigured my server's proxy settings and everything was getting rate limited.
So next time it should finish - but I have to wait another 29 days for the cooldown. Meanwhile, if you'd like to see what I'm up to lately, feel free to follow me at @kelson
