#modteam The #OMN activism instance has shut down due to payment cancelled from lack of funds. We received no direct donations for this instance for the last year on #opencollective or #bitcoin and funds were far beyond exorsted.
We would like to restart the instance based on a different codebase if donations could cover the ongoing costs of servers and hosting #DIY
Our culture is currently not strong anufe to support alt media hosting or production.
The state of Georgia has indicted over 60 protesters on organized crime and racketeering charges over their involvement in the movement to stop the construction of a $90 million police training facility in Atlanta that opponents have dubbed “Cop City.”

RICO charges can result in a fine or a five to 20 year prison sentence in Georgia.
I am stepping back from the #Tusky project with immediate effect.
I discovered severe lapses in how the Tusky project's donations (received via #OpenCollective) were being handled. When I reported those to the project's private "Tusky Contributors" Matrix channel the financial admins tone policed the feedback, refused to engage with the concerns I and others raised, and demanded the discussion be stopped.
This week's donation went to the OpenAndroidInstaller project. It allows for easy install of various deGoogled Android operating systems to mobile phones. For instance on my Pixel 2 it was as simple as a dozen or so mouse clicks and downloading two files to get Android replaced by LineageOS. There weas no use of a temrinal required for the install and this will really help non tech saavy people get free of Android as well as save time for those who are tech saavy. There are over 60 devices supported at this time. The project code is licensed using GPLv3.0.
Is there a standard suggested Donation Tiers chart for Open Source projects? Like, how much money should be donated in order to get a shout out on social media, or to get free stickers, etc? #github#opencollective#patreon#opensource
Hey there #bldrweb friends! I finally created a way to receive contributions ($$) toward the server hosting costs for our instance (toot.bldrweb.org). Please check out the #OpenCollective page for all the details:
Rather than requests for donations, what would make me more likely to chip in would be basic cost per user figures for my instance. Anyone know instances out there that are transparent about that stuff? #fedi #fedimeta
Hey, once again, I welcome the newcomers. It's great to see new faces here :) It seems that we've managed to resolve the server issue. Unfortunately, I had to temporarily disable certain features, such as content auto-refresh. It will be restored at the beginning of next week after the infrastructure change, so you'll get to...
"Open Collective is a legal and financial toolbox for grassroots groups. It’s a fundraising + legal status + money management platform for your community. What do you want to do?"
@brentsimmons Re «file with the state of Washington, set up a bank account, start keeping track of income and expenses, separate NetNewsWire stuff from my stuff, start paying taxes», all of this can be avoided by using #OpenCollective. Excess funds can also be donated to other projects.
Doesn't change your overall conclusion, but seemed worth mentioning.
If you like #Fedilab and use #opencollective, you can contribute to our server charges (we didn't find alternative yet, so we stopped our cancel action).
