After my several straight hours of playing No Man's Sky yesterday, I'm giving the 65days soundtrack another shake.
As much as I adore this band, I could never get into the NMS OST at release, because I hadn't played the game, so figured there was something I was missing. Which is kinda stupid, because the game is just a game which features this music.
Instrumental post-rock with a cinematic bent, bits of prog and psych blended in for unique and polished sound. "All the Colors of the Dark" is a cover of the giallo film of the same name's theme by Bruno Nicolai. "I Led Three Lives" slips in the melody of Blondie's "Call Me" in a wonderful new context.
My picks: "All the Colors of the Dark," "Deep Politics," "Almost Grew My Hair"
Starting to compile my list for best albums of 2023 (and for some kind of album of the year). It's super tough because there's so many great ones this year-- and several still to come! Will put out (or keep putting out) an updated list(s) once I narrow it down more or add more.
CONTENDERS:
Cannibal Corpse
Desekryptor
Dripped
Dying Fetus
Flesher
Hot Ocean
Molested Divinity
Nuclear Remains
Serpent of Old
Suneater
Vomitheist

Every few months I fall in love all over again with #RussianCircles – and this week was no exception! I hadn't listened too much to their latest LP "Gnosis" so far, so I set out to change this now. Favorite track:

I am a massive, massive #music nerd and really love everything and anything I can get my ears on. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of #postrock and The Meters but I flit between genres and artists constantly.
Lots of huge #drums#vibraphone and #noise on this album. Fantastic spacious production and a killer sounding #record to boot. Bandleader Jose Medeles is best known these days as the proprietor of Revival Drum Shop, which is a bonafide #PacificNorthwest institution.
#GreatAlbums1990s – #SigurRos - #AgaetisByrjun (1999). Sung in Icelandic and Vonlenska (the group’s own made-up language) SR’s breakthrough disc combines dreampop, classical, jazz and ambient gestures in music that thrills and haunts the more you repeat. Birgisson’s Bjork-on-downers voice is a beguiling instrument that lures the listener with its Nordic lament and childlike innocence. A post-rock symphonic journey like no other. #Albums, #Music, #Reviews, #1990s, #PostRock, #GreatWorldAlbums
