The joy of some good automation! Automatically sending PDFs of all unread tagged items from @goodlinks to the #ReMarkable#eink tablet using #Shortcuts.
Ivo Velitchkov @kvistgaard talks about what he’s missing from the reMarkable:
Export of highlights from PDF and EPUB
Links between notes and related to that:
Persistent IDs of every object (note, notebook, folder, tag) so that they can be referred to from other places and opened up in the desktop or mobile app.
Two really great #eink devices: the #remarkable 2 and the #supernote A6X2 Nomad.
Personally I prefer the #remarkable more, because of its hackability, feel of writing and simple ui
The #supernote has great os with offline handwriting recognition, offline updates and WiFi sharing (if you want to use it).
So just two very wonderful devices. #eink rocks!
I know that having to choose between the hardware and the writing experience of the #reMarkable and that of the #Kindle Scribe is like comparing walking in nature vs watching it on TV, but man, the convieniece of having your notes and books in the same place is so darn alluring.
I haven’t pushed the purchase button yet, but I’m so sad of the reMarkable never really becoming my daily companion device that I’m just going to give the 30-day return a chance, and so be it.
Picked up a #reMarkable tablet the other day that will hopefully help me better organize and focus. Anyone else have one? Would love to know your thoughts and any tips you may have. I’m only 2 days in, but I’m really liking it so far.
I'm still considering getting a #remarkable tablet for the scribbling on PDFs support. But Joplin & our old surface tablet may save me from buying yet another device
Things I didn't think about when I switched from a smartphone to a feature phone: I don't know my PIN number for my debit/credit cards.
I just used to use Apple Pay, so authenticated with a fingerprint / my face. And I only realised this when I went to pay for a basket full of groceries and the machine asked for a PIN number.
@grork Maybe so. I’d like it to have an e-ink display too. Maybe. Which makes me wonder what #Remarkable are working on. They are certainly cooking up something new; they’re hiring a lot right now.
I absolutely love mine. Get one if it's been tempting you.
I recommend you get:
Remarkable 2
Marker Plus (their stylus with an "eraser")
Their Polymer weave folio cover.
I'd typically recommend 3rd party stylus and cover but in this particular device i REALLY like their stylus (I also have the Lamy Al-Star stylus) and the 3rd party covers are just cheap crap.
I made straight lines & cover page labels for my #reMarkable
I recently acquired a second-hand e-ink tablet. The reMarkable2 comes with very little but specific features which optimize for efficient note-taking mainly, and for some sketching. For the latter, the only assistance available is a few templates that afford guide lines, and the possibility to work with layers.
@cyberlyra@pluralistic@Incognitim I love my #remarkable 2! It's a linux device, their doco shows you how to ssh in and do... whatever you like. There are #opensource readers for it, but I've mostly just converted my amazon books to PDF and used their built in PDF reader. Note there's no backlight, and it's pretty big for "handheld" at A4 size.
If you are the type of person who already takes a lot of handwritten notes in notebooks you’ll probably love it. Everyone else should probably skip it.
I am the type of person who already took lots of handwritten notes in notebooks, and I am beyond thrilled with this.
🤔 thinking out loud here.
Imagine a PDF template generator for #Remarkable style e-ink tablets. In the bottom corner of every page is a unique QR code.
annotated PDFs are stored [in a cloud?] ... and then i can... ... something. I could look at one in my tablet, scan it, and message you the url for it? I can already email a page so i'm not sure how that helps.
Maybe a QR code for the whole document (same on all pages) to facilitate sharing via link?
