I did manage to do 6 miles today in about 38 minutes. I have rode the last few days due to rain or feeling unwell in the morning. I've also been on medication that prevents me from being in the sun but this is the last day of that.
Achievement unlocked yesterday: First 20-mile (32km) ride... EVER! Got to feast my eyes on beautiful orchards and farmland, Bear Creek, and Black Rascal creek.
This ride felt like tangible proof that my decision to ditch alcohol and eat healthier (more cooking from scratch, less ultra processed foods) is paying off.
Morning mt bike ride before the rain moved in. Trails are in prime condition so I routed us up some techy stuff to session lines and expand boundaries. Or tip over, we did some of that too.
Did an end-to-end test. Towed the kayak with my bike 5 miles to the lake, then disassembled the cart and stowed it in the kayak. Folded up the bike and bungeed it down on the rear deck. Went kayaking around the lake for a while, then reversed everything and biked back home.
It's a lot slower than putting the kayak on the car, but... I gotta say, it felt pretty awesome to head out knowing I could go anywhere there's water or a trail. And switch between them as needed.
Looks like another successful #OpenStreets for #boston#dorchester with a whole bunch of both gov and charity causes pitching their ideas alongside music, games, food and plenty of nicks and nacks.
The real success is seeing RBCs (roving bands of children) just enjoying the #carFree street. More of this!
Family bike ride yesterday along the Sugar River rail trail that goes from Newport to Claremont, NH. Winding along the river we saw quite a few fly fishing folks in their hip waders angling for the best spots. Also quite a few sturdy bridge crossings, many of them covered. This rail trail allows motorized recreational vehicles which results in a more chewed up surface: loose sand, gravel, and washboard bumps makes for slow going and more pedaling.
Here, have the quickly-made MEGAMAP 1, a combination of the new Greater Northshore Connector Bike Map, most of the City of Seattle 2023 Bike Map, and the April 2024 2 Line Connector Eastside Bike Map.
It is NOT SMALL. Printed at native 300dpi, it's right about 26" square, or 660mm square.
Release 1 of the Greater Northshore Bike Map is NOW! Full res version is downloadable, it's like 600mm/24" wide printed at 300dpi and connects the Seattle and 2 Line Connector Eastside bike maps.
RELEASE CANDIDATE 2 of the Greater #Northshore Bike Connector Map, built to link the Seattle and 2 Line Eastside Rail maps. Since we haven’t had one and nobody else is going to connect the dots, I decided I would.
Printed at 300dpi, the map is 24″x10.4″ or 608x264mm.
NEW IN RC2:
Added note "very difficult" to part of Tolt Pipeline Trail.
